Analogy ;

Your iPhone is a big old school Filofax where you store a load of hand written notes, photos, diary entries etc.

Every day in case you lose your Filofax you take photocopies all the stuff in your Filofax and store it in a big warehouse for safekeeping. Your stuff is stored in an individual little box in the warehouse.

The warehouse keepers protect the warehouse with security guards BUT the police can come along with a warrant and say they want access to your box. Or , indeed, some clever burglars could break in to the warehouse and bypass the security guards.

Now - up until now the warehouse keepers gave you the chance to add your own padlock to the box, of which only you know the combination. So even if the police or the burglars did get hold of your box , they wouldn’t have been able to open it and get the contents.

Now, you are no longer given the option to add your own padlock
