We’re thrilled to announce that SLE is 1 of 4 schools in the Houston area selected for Theatre Under the Stars first-ever Disney Musicals in Schools program! 🎭💫
This spring, students begin their journey into the magic of musical theater.
HUGE shout out to Principals Garcia & Chavarria for allowing our athletes to SERVE @SLESuns. Your campus made a HUGE impact on our TEAM…from opening car doors to the hand shakes, high fives, fist pumps, seeing our teachers from the elementary days…Special Day!

Most people think emotional intelligence is simply about controlling your emotions — white-knuckling your feelings and being cool as a cucumber under pressure. It's not.
True emotional intelligence goes much deeper.
✅ First, it starts with understanding your emotions — being able to name what you feel, why you feel it, and how it affects you. Without this awareness, you can’t manage emotions because you don’t even fully know what’s happening inside.
✅ Second, it’s about knowing your WHY — the inner purpose, values, and drivers that give meaning to your emotions and decisions. This self-knowledge helps you stay aligned and authentic, even in tough situations.
✅ Third, it’s about making better decisions — using your emotions as valuable data to guide your thinking, not cloud it. High EQ isn’t about being emotionless; it’s about letting your emotions inform you without letting them control you.
In short: emotional intelligence isn’t suppression. It’s not shutting emotions down; it’s learning how to listen to them, learn from them, and react to them wisely.
