@EdKrassen Tariffs can be stopped but the anger and determination of Canadians won't be. All of the cancelled travel and buy Canadian efforts will be in place long after the tariffs are done.
🔴İtalya Başbakanı Meloni'den Trump'a:
Biz kimsenin uşağı değiliz; özgürlüğün bir bedeli var.
80 yıldır güvenliğimizi ABD’ye havale ettik, karşılıksız sandık, öyle değildi. Bedeli şartlanmak oldu.
Özgürlük pahalı olabilir ama ABD'nin kuklası olmaktan iyidir.
Avrupa artık kendi başına ayakta duran, ABD kadar güçlü ve saygın bir NATO ayağı inşa etmeli; dünyayla masaya oturabilmeli.
I believe that the US has just been schooled in the limitations of conventional conflict. In my opinion this is a war they will long live to regret. Not because conventional strikes can’t do enormous damage, but because they have revealed their limitations and China has had a front row seat.
It is incredulous to me that after seeing what Russia has experienced in Ukraine the U.S. would arrogantly assume that this could never happen to them, yet here we are.
Wars are no longer fought in a conventional way, and Iran has exposed a huge weakness in the conventional thinking applied when it comes to countering an enemy schooled in the art of asymmetric warfare.
Trump’s abject failure at diplomacy is embarrassing. He now has Gulf states denying him access to bases and critical airspace and usual allies want no part of his failed extortion attempt.
China’s military planners have been gifted a treasure trove of data on how the U.S. operates against what would be considered a second or third tier state.
The U.S. has expended vast amounts of munitions that will take years to replace and they will walk away from this with nothing, having been forced to unfreeze billions of frozen Iranian assets. Not only that, Iran will be in a stronger position than before this imbecilic move by an out of his depth president.
Fareed Zakaria explains the geopolitical implications with the kind of clarity that is needed in this moment.

Donald Trump does not just excuse political violence. He celebrates it when it serves him.
When Robert Mueller died, Trump posted: “Good, I’m glad he’s dead.”
When Rob Reiner was brutally murdered, Trump said: “I bet he died because he had Trump derangement syndrome.”
After Paul Pelosi was hit in the head with a hammer, Trump mocked the attack: “The wall around their house didn’t work so well, did it?”
In 2023, he suggested General Mark Milley’s actions were so treasonous they should be punishable by death.
He posted an image of himself holding a baseball bat, ready to bludgeon NYC DA Alvin Bragg.
He has branded Democrats and former allies as guilty of “treason” and suggested they “could be put to death.”
And on January 6, while police were being beaten and his mob chanted “hang Mike Pence,” Trump watched for 187 minutes.
This is not politics as usual. This is a monster.
@Rjanepifanio@GeraldoRivera Ong this idiot goes out and speaks at all kinds of MAGA shit. As if this ballroom saves him from anything. What a bunch of bullshit this is. How can you fall for it?
PM Carney on the Americans calling the alcohol ban an irritant: "You know what's an irritant? 50% tariffs on steel. 50% tariffs on aluminum. 25% tariffs on automobiles. All the tariffs on forest products. Those are more than irritants, those are violations of our trade deal."
