@spyhistory@RoryCormac SIH conference is during teaching term for us in US also, but itโs the case for majority of society conferences unfortunately. Personally if I know one is on my schedule I am able to adjust my syllabus for a different kind of assignment for a missed day, but not ideal!
A student wants to write a research paper on the Oversteeg sisters, Hannie Schaft, and other female Dutch resisters in WWII but sheโs having trouble finding good secondary sources. Which historians have done research in this topic? Grateful for any help! https://t.co/iaHcw8zwTY
Homeward bound from a great weekend at #AHA2024. Highlights included interesting panels, connecting with UCLA friends, and finally meeting my amazing, smart, and kind intel co-panelists, who shared a fun meal at a mediocre spot. ๐ @TheSpyTheState@sperlmanAU
On my way to San Fran for #AHA24! First time since those hotel interviews a decade agoโฆ Iโm excited to present a paper on espionage and emotions, chair a panel on online teaching, and meet up with grad school friends and colleagues new and old! Who else will be there? ๐โโ๏ธ
First @heavyweight and now @pastpresentpod going on hiatus (hopefully only temporary!) I am going to be missing some of my favorite pods this year. ๐ญ What should I fill my ears with in the interim?
@WoeToChorazin So true! Our good poly friends have a kid too, which seems even harder to balance. My sense is itโs a one night a week date with other partner always on the schedule, but seems exhausting to meโฆ
We are hiring an Americanist! Disappointed that admin granted us a visiting position this time, but itโs a good job in a great department and we are hopeful to turn it to TT in another year. Please share! Iโm happy to answer any questions about the job. https://t.co/MDFF5qXLmy
Might as well collect articles for my history of Espionage class next spring.

History Today offering a little intro to my contribution on #Madagascar and John Waller! Itโs only available by subscription at the moment, but the opening para is teased in the comments and hopefully weโll have access to the full thing before long. Canโt wait to share!
The worldโs fourth-largest island was among the prizes of Europeโs ruthless African land grab. When one American diplomat made plans for his own enterprise, he soon found that the French had other ideas.
