@DoughneyJ @krisrob0719@aojeda288 Speaking from the inside out! I really connected to that model. It makes so much sense. Is this the key to creating a system with the capacity to change?

@ksuhr22@RayerTerri @DoughneyJ We moved to Restorative Practices two years ago. We still have parents that question the method, some have even chosen to attend another campus. We keep communicating, sharing and sticking to it.

@RayerTerri Some days it feel all consuming. I think it is worthy, but our district has not set up our 1st year of implementation with a strong foundation.
A5: (1/2) From the curriculum realm: Our district is implementing the Units of Study from the Teachers College in New York for reading, writing and phonics. Its a HUGE change.

A5: (2/2) High leverage questions would be: Do we have support in place to facilitate and train for success? What other resources are available to meet the needs of all learners?

@Cho213@aojeda288 @DCRB_Sammi I have been that person in my own classroom. Purposeful, worthy, results-oriented change is hard at every level. So, how do we as leaders keep all the plates of change spinning?
#EDLE5330
@Cho213 YES! I had not connected backwards design to district-wide or campus-wide change initiative, but if it is the best method for building curriculum for our students, why not for the educators!

A3: Leaders need to set clear and consistent expectations about implementation with frequency, consistency, and accuracy to produce intended results (Fullen, 2007).

@aojeda288 @DCRB_Sammi I agree! Feedback and follow-through let you know when a leader believes in the purpose and intended results of the initiative.

@CoachQSays Or the one's who are simply overwhelmed by the simplicity of best practices and heaping another initiative on top of their already heavy load might make them dig their heels in. Some just need time to buy in.

A2: Often the βwhatβ is addressed. What resources, what scope & sequence, what alignment, and what activities: the βwhyβ is missing. Without the βwhyβ a leader cannot help teachers understand how the innovation will lead to improvements
#EDLE5330
@RayerTerri @DoughneyJ I wonder to if we have the fear or urgency to "get it right" where kids don't see a "right" or "wrong." I see my fellow teachers feeling overwhelmed by trying to get it all accomplished, well.

A1: The Institutionalization phase. districts and campuses often initiate and sometimes implement innovations, yet are unable to transition into the daily routine and intended results as a whole.
