1/19 NEW ANALYSIS🚨: RCEM's very first acute insight series is now live! Today's analysis -carried out by @RCEMPolicyVP & Kelly Sarsfield from the Policy Team- examines why we've witnessed a surge in ED attendances and admissions over recent months. https://t.co/rd5KhfERxY

Dr Medhat Atalla, a much-loved and respected doctor at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, has sadly passed away at the hospital, following treatment for Covid-19. As a team we are truly saddened and we will miss him every single day. https://t.co/StXUvuPxb4

If you have reduced your PAs or locum cover directly as a result of the #nhspensions taxation issue please email [email protected] as we are gathering more evidence on this.
Our Informatics Committee is looking into how usable you feel your ED electronic patient record system is.
They would be grateful if you could please complete this short (<2 min) survey on EHR usability: https://t.co/QT8sPbyXWR
@clifford0584@RCollEM@KatherineRCEM REMAIN! The four hour target must stay. It has proved its worth for 15 years and before its introduction, EDs were unbearable - both for patients and for staff. We must increase staffing and capacity to meet the target - not lower the target to match our inadequate resources!
@RCEM_VP@RCollEM Strongly agree
@DBH_NHSFT we have structured CESR training.
We recognise prior experiences and build on the new learning plan in a bespoke process.
This has helped to simplify the CESR process. However RCEM and GMC need to come up with easier process.
Excellent step
A: This patient is a direct referral to AMU, can they come up?
B: There aren't any beds, they'll need to go to A&E
A: There aren't any beds in A&E either...
B: ...
A: ...
Serious question - why is this ok? Why are EDs expected to absorb this risk?
Having seen many A&E departments up and down the country with @NHSGIRFT and worked in an overloaded @boltonnhsft last night, I know that we cannot go on as we are. Tinkering around the edges is not enough. Urgent, immediate and radical reform of the whole EC system is required.
