Teachers should not have to practice barricading a classroom.
Teachers should not have to know how to treat a gunshot wound.
And teachers should not be told that lives would have been saved if only they had a gun.
The EU just closed its airspace to Russian planes. FedEx and UPS suspended service in Russia. BP is getting out. Russian banks are running out of dollars. The ruble is crashing. Putin is finally getting his dream of taking Russia back to the USSR, an impoverished, hermit kingdom.
Let us ask ourselves what type of words we use. Words that express care, respect, understanding, closeness, compassion, or do we pollute the world by spreading venom: criticizing, complaining, feeding widespread aggression? #GospeloftheDay (Lk 6,39-46)
You’re not just protecting yourself by working from home, minimizing travel, and washing your hands.
You’re protecting people in your community who may have a greater risk of complications from COVID-19 than you do.
We’re all in this together. Let’s act like it.
It feels wonderful to work for a few hours and then go home to my sweet little boy. I’m so blessed to have work flexibility, to have good childcare/househelp, and to live close to work. I really should embrace all that I have!
