Christian Eriksen has been a ticking time-bomb since his cardiac arrest in 2021, because his cardiologist could not find the cause, and his scans were normal.
The incident today will have been fully-recorded on ECG, as his ICD automatically records an Electrocardiogram of Eriksen's heart rhythm, 24/7.
Doctors will be looking for what happened BEFORE his collapse.
These sudden collapses are caused by a heart rhythm called Ventricular Fibrillation, a life-threatening arrhythmia, often caused by a genetic heart condition, but sometimes they are termed "idiopathic" when heart scans are clear. This simply means no cause was identified, but that is not the same as "no cause existed."
In this case, cardiologists will be able to carefully examine a 10 minute ECG, usually comprising the five minutes before the collapse, and the five minutes after. Usually, the heart rhythm becomes highly-irregular, a minute or two before the collapse- which triggers the device to start recording, while any corrective "shocks" are given.
This has a very good chance of finally diagnosing Eriksen with what really happened back in 2021, when his heart rhythm was not recorded.
Not knowing the cause must have caused Eriksen sleepless nights, but now he may finally get a definitive diagnosis from his implanted heart monitor.
Good luck, Christian!

One of, if not THE saddest day ever - I remember watching this horror unfold ๐ข the most horrific day with parents rushing to the school praying it wasnโt their child involved whilst not wishing it on any child or adult. #Horrific#Dunblane
