Sale of TOYOTA is bouncing back in China. Good news for GAC.

GAC Group, a major automobile manufacturer in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, plans to acquire 50 percent of the equity in FAW Toyota held by China FAW Group through a share issuance, the company said on Thursday.

The announcement was made after China FAW Group, Toyota Motor Corporation and GAC Group signed a new strategic cooperation framework agreement on Thursday.

Upon completion of the transaction, GAC Group will become the common Chinese shareholder of Toyota's two joint ventures in China, and will coordinate the research and development, procurement, production and sales activities of both joint ventures.

昨天看到 @ChengLeifreedom 的访谈，谈到她在中国做记者的心酸往事。让我也想起自己刚入行做记者的一些往事 - 当然，是完全不同的故事。

那时，我刚开始在路透社工作，大学都还没毕业。一切都很新奇，自己也十分青涩。跟着老记者去外交部新闻发布会，以及各种采访现场，常常是发布会一结束，记者们就一拥而上，把发言人团团围住。尤其是香港记者，冲得特别猛。

我却总是不好意思，一边小声说着“Excuse me, excuse me”，一边试图往前挤。可没有人因此给我让路，最后，我往往只能站在人群最外围，跟着听，跟着走。

当时的老板林洸耀，Ben Lim，一位曾掌舵路透社北京和台北分社的老记者，看出了我的窘迫。

他语重心长地告诉我，做记者，和做其他行业一样，想把事情做好，脸皮一定要厚一点。

他的话大意是：新闻发言人在中间，你也要争取到中间去。不要不好意思。你被挤在外面，问不到问题，回去交不了差，那就是自己的工作没有做好。

接着，他给我讲了一个路透社的老故事。

故事的主角，是当年的北京分社社长马珍，Jane Macartney。马珍当年也是一个传奇 - 来自英国的贵族家庭，中文流利，眼神犀利，和崔健他们北京各界名流打成一片，人脉很广，是个出了名的厉害人物。当年出使中国、不愿意下跪叩头而留名历史的英国使节马戛尔尼就是她家族的成员。马珍的签名和介绍上，也骄傲的引用了这段历史，称自己为“不愿意为中国叩头的人”。

就是这样一位见多识广、采访经验丰富的记者，也曾因为“不好意思”，留下一个长久的遗憾。

1997 年的一天傍晚，马珍接到一位外交部朋友的电话。

对方只提醒了一句：“留意今晚的新华社新闻。”

马珍很想追问，却犹豫了。她觉得，对方能够这样提醒，已经非常不容易，不好意思再多问。于是，她道了谢，没有继续追问，通话就这样结束了。

后来，邓小平逝世的消息公布了。路透没有错过这条重要消息，但是也不是独家。

事后，那位朋友告诉她：“如果当时你追问我，我是打算告诉你的。”

这句话，让她耿耿于怀了很久。

原来，对方并非完全不愿意说。那扇门已经留了一道缝，只是她没有再推一下。

一个原本可能更早确认重大消息的机会，就这样停在了那句没有问出口的问题上。

后来，Ben 把这个故事讲给我们这些新人听，提醒我们：不要因为不好意思，就把问题咽回去。不要怕显得无知，有机会，一定要追问。

这么多年过去，经历了无数次的采访，这堂课却一直留在心里。

每当我胆怯，或者开始自我怀疑，想说的话到了嘴边又准备收回时，我总会想起这个故事。

再问一句。再争取一次。伸出手，推一推那扇半掩的门。

我们常常还没有开口，就已经替别人想好了拒绝的理由：会不会打扰？会不会显得冒昧？会不会被拒绝？

可是，不问，就永远不知道答案。

Ben 是一位真正的中国通，也是愿意把经验传给年轻人的前辈。可惜，他过早地离开了我们 - 他去世前还写了一本关于中国和习近平的书，欢迎大家有机会找来读。关于他的故事，我以后再慢慢讲。

今天，先把他当年给我的这堂课，分享给大家。

愿我们都能更大胆地追求心中的愿望，也更勇敢地问出自己想知道的答案。
