🚨 🤓 IMPORTANT RE BERGVALL: UEFA has made a very important change to their player swap rules which is directly relevant to Bergvall and Newcastle.

Previously, any deals between the same clubs in the same window were captured as a player exchange. But on 1 June 2026, UEFA changed the rule. Now if you wait 45 days, it is not automatically a player exchange. Opens the door for a Newcastle deal.

Under the old rules, it would have made it commercially irrational to trade Tonali and Bergvall between the two clubs.

UEFA rules remain important for both clubs a) NUFC are in a settlement regime so can't afford discounted player trading profits (Tonali) and b) both clubs expect to be back in Europe in the future where this Summer's trading profits will be used.
