As a first-gen student, I've always known that other students with legacies in academia or family histories of college education have inherent advantages over me, but I don't think I've ever been able to see and understand that as clearly as today.

@Sutapa2712 Interesting! I didn't think about UK/Europe universities probably because never heard or saw anyone getting RA positions there. Thank you for bringing it to my attention :)
@Sutapa2712 I am looking at both Canada and US. I had similar experience while searching for labs. Labs that I came across in US are more inclined towards neurocognition or neurobiology which is not what I am interested in.
