@softambrollins I mean, yeah, but a lot of people write, at least partly, for connection and a sense of community. Others write for themselves and only upload to ao3 just in case someone else likes it. It sounds like OP is in the former category which is perfectly fine.
@daughterofmath@wwxwashere One of the coders for ao3 made a reddit post and said all the fics take up only ~3TB of storage so I'm also confused lol. Site traffic makes up a huge portion of ao3's expenses, storage is like the least of their concerns
@Thatfuckasscat2 Kinda like how lolicons still use the "uohh" thing which is meme widely attributed to dorontabi who later got exposed for possessing CSAM and making NSFW art based on real child sex abuse videos
@SpiralsInTime@vhalyro How?

AO3 almost never deletes fics. Rule breakers are given one chance to remove any rule breaking content. If they fail, only then do fics actually get taken down/the mods edit out the rule breaking content and keep the fic up
@CherryGgyuk@SpiralsInTime And to make matters worse, every time you tweet or every minute you spend on Twitter, money goes directly to the pockets of that zionist. None of that happens with AO3 because they're a nonprofit. Complaining about AO3 on Twitter does more to support zionism than using AO3.
@kittyyfloss@LostDragonfile@ineffablehachi@annia316 I do wish they would use bots to take down content, or at least pay and hire way more mods, tho I'm not sure if that's allowed given they're a nonprofit org.
@kittyyfloss@LostDragonfile@ineffablehachi@annia316 Yeah it's human volunteers. I do have my gripes with the mods thing. They're extremely understaffed so reports are unbelievably slow. They don't deliberately harbour a safe space for predators, illegal content is eventually taken down or else that would be a huge liability.
@ineffablehachi Please explain to me how regularly visiting a site that hosts "CP" doesn't make you a child predator of sorts, or at least someone who is okay with child predators.
@kittyyfloss@LostDragonfile@ineffablehachi@annia316 Of course, this can happen on AO3 but it's a lot harder. AO3 doesn't host images except pfps, so if someone wants to post CSAM in a comment or fic they would have to use a 3rd party image hosting site. Gooming someone is also harder because there are no DMs.
@kittyyfloss@LostDragonfile@ineffablehachi@annia316 Those predators aren't removed quick enough or even at all in a lot of cases. For months now X has had hundreds of thousands of bots posting CSAM every minute. They have done nothing to stop this. Instagram allowed CSAM advertisements.
@sadone_Tiara@Blackdawnlight You're the first person I've seen with this well thought out argument and that's really refreshing. I've seen multiple other people just repeat "illegal is illegal, so that why it's bad" with no further elaboration, which is frustrating and weird
@mimizuku20144@Asap_Mass I heard that in Japan, a criminal who commits a sex crime to multiple different victims is only charged with one crime. Is this true?
