What is the importance of Pran Pratishtha and why do we perform it ?

The statues you see in temples are not mere idols, we call them pratima, vigraha and murti for a reason

And mostly they are made of stone ,copper, silver,brass and gold or mix of 5 metals are preferred for making murti.

Why? Because they are the best conductors of energy.

You have to energise these murtis . Otherwise it's just a show piece.

What is the process of energising it ?
Pran Pratishtha is the process of energising it

Prana pratishtha is the science of directly infusing life-force into the Murti.
When an Enlightened soul (Sadguru) performs prana pratishtha on an idol,it becomes an independent intelligence, a direct vehicle of the Divine cosmic energy capable of answering prayers healing ailments and granting boons.

You can't see the invisible cosmic power, energy, God, super power whatever you call it, which is spread in the entire universe with your naked eye. You need a tool to experience. That is the idol ( murti )
When we install idol, We do ‘prana pratishtha'.
Invoking life ( energy) in to that.
