“A brighter winter evening is a poor trade for a darker, groggier, unhealthier winter morning. Our clocks should serve our biology, not override it…” #DitchDST https://t.co/hKGm6sfuI5
@OthrVirginiaGuy@SlopHq Just as morning daylight returns by Feb/Mar DST comes & takes it right back. I hate that. The dark mornings could occur on just the shortest days of winter but DST makes Sept, Oct & Mar dark too. Perm DST would steal the remaining light mornings forcing 6 months of morning misery
@KevinMasterKev@BigPotato26@weatherchannel I get it but focusing on 5:30am when the winter sunrise is after 7 am on standard time and thus after 8am on DST is not really a fair representation of reality. In addition it's not that most people are early risers by choice it's required by work or school commitments.
@KevinMasterKev@BigPotato26@weatherchannel Being that sunrises are approaching 8am for many of us right now, 5am is not the issue. We already struggle with how late sunrise is in Oct. Most of us are starting work or school by 8am. We don't want to remain on DST & add 4 months of even later sunrises than we already have.
@jbank31@MichaelStockw12 I agree parents of young kids are at bus stops w/ them but that doesn't make them more visible to sleep deprived, distracted drivers that blow past school buses. We need to consider that its winter & morning light helps melt ice so roads can be navigated safely as well.
@jbank31@MichaelStockw12 Yes but there will be far more days and far more children at bus stops in darkness on DST than on standard time since the sunrise is literally one hour later. winter bus stops that were previously in daylight will instead be in darkness.
Daylight Saving Time makes us set alarms an hour earlier than we would on Standard Time. Morning is when sunlight is most essential to health, safety, and prosperity. #DitchDST
@michele_obarr@hallieboy1@Gutfeldfox Reckless in that the busses can't navigate the subdivision? There are streetlights but that's not enough. It's much safer for kids to be at bus stops in daylight rather than streetlights. If you make the streetlights too bright it blinds drivers which is equally dangerous.
@hallieboy1@michele_obarr@Gutfeldfox We have actual bus stops in my area. Some for entire subdivisions that busses can't navigate. Daily there's dozens of children at just one stop. It's on a 6 lane divided highway. Doing that in darkness seems wreckless. We have parents that drive kids but about 50% ride buses.
@UnpolishedSaint@SaveStandard I mean working earlier is what we're doing the entire 8 months that we're on DST. We're just lying about the time of day while we do that. Instead of forcing the early workday on everyone we should advocate for flexibility in work schedules and align the clock with the sun.
