@ZaidJilani "it happens that..our interests intersect...and i'm GLAD he's is saying [it]"
When does he say it'd be better if they didn't support the issue?
I mean, it'd be strange for him not to be wary of ppl basically pushing for Stephen Miller's wet dream, no?
Not purity, just clarity.
@ZaidJilani But that's what Norm has said. There's nothing about "not aligning" or "not being strategic." He's gets all that. What he said is similar to Coates' point, which is reminding everyone about who these ppl are. And calling out their dubious logic and nutjob conspiracies.
@ZaidJilani I get that this is the new hot thing of the feed and yes he's good at this, but what's substantively different here from like decades of left critique? Or Mamdani, to pick just one recent example? Maybe his signature righteousness, or the man-of-the-people plaid?
On guardian 100 novels list: lists r dumb but...no Burroughs or Pynchon or PKD is CRAZY; H. James, Sebald, Woolf-1 each is enough; Moby Dick 15? Orwell is overrated, but sure; Um, where's Shirley Jackson, or Bolaรฑo? Z Smith has to go; Jesus 5 Woolfs what a fuckin circle jerk
@chinster202@ZaidJilani@mattwalsh Wait, you're telling me that American schoolchildren, in American classrooms, don't have to read books on the global history of slavery in the context of American history?
@nonprofitech@thereal_truther@ninaturner You're right back at the beginning and have missed the point: 'liberal secular democracy' is incompatible with an ethno-state. That's it.
@nonprofitech@thereal_truther@ninaturner Except America doesn't have full dominion over Mexico, while sending waves of invasive settlements totaling abt 1/5 of Mexico's population, which exercises total control of said population's movement with the backing of military force and terrorizes them with impunity???
@Branche_SC@toly Interesting how a '$ problem' which is solvable by air superiority was utterly unsolved by clear air superiority. Also interesting that this was part of the calculus for top military personnel advising not to go to war w/ Iran.
@nonprofitech@thereal_truther@ninaturner Nope, no nonsense. As I said, unequal status for a number of reasons beyond suffrage is well documented if you care to look. And this principle is given full expression in the West Bank, where Palestinians are essentially subject to a Jim Crow tyranny.
@nonprofitech@thereal_truther@ninaturner 2nd tier status of non-Jews in Israel regardless of citizenship is well-documented my man. Feel free to check it out. If Jews are not allowed to exist in Palestinian territories, then what are a million settlers doing in the West Bank?
@thereal_truther@ninaturner And many non-Jews are de facto 2nd class citizens even within its borders, to say nothing of the horror show in the West Bank. She's right to point out the basic incompatibility.
@IanLotsanumbers@moetkacik The post vertical integration moment is/was generally desolate, and even so rock stands out in its barrenness, then and now, because it had been dying a slow death. Youthful energy had been going elsewhere since mid 80s at least, MTV TRL etc was just the sermon at the funeral
@IanLotsanumbers@moetkacik If by 'going strong' you mean completely spent since about the punk and post-punk era, then sure. Smashing Pumpkins as a band and Billy Corgan as a songwriter, I think, kinda prove my point, yes the early stuff too. But this is taste issue.
