@Bronwen85 I have a surrogate mother friend. Shes amazing. I also enjoy being that for youngsters like my kids friends. I like them to feel safe if they come over. Isnt that, um, empathy?
@adamfare1996 I had hEDS they said I was lying when ED recovery didnt make it better, in fact, the weight gain made it much worse, so I was more fatigued and in pain. Seeing what is not expected, isnt always a lie, yet thats where they jump first.
@jamesldowns I thought I was recovered. So I just let go of the reins, stopped talking about recovery, ate when I wanted to etc, just fell into automatic pilot, ended up relapsing when my friend died. Turns out even if youre in recovery 12 years automatic pilot is still your ED lesson learned
@pigletish It was bad, but the therapist was really good at making me focus on ONLY that event. I had a "safe space" we'd stop at if my brain tried to bring up other trauma. Its actually the only therapy that DID something noticeable.
@pigletish it was actually really beneficial to me, but it was limited by one event. I have complex ptsd so whilst it helped with the one event, i need it several more times. Apparently they do an intensive 9-4pm over days now for cptsd. The processing part was not as bad as i thought
@CaraLisette I agree with you, tell you what though, Im in a relapse currently, and because they know what I went through last time they saw me quicker this time, so my weight isnt as terrible as last time. I quite like that as a relapse prevention thing.
Pretty sure I have trauma from NHS therapy. Once, my treatment team sat me in a room with 3 other people and wanted me to admit that all my joint issues were fake or in my head. Turned out to be Hypermobile EDS. My kid got diagnosed at 14 and I did after.
@adamfare1996 I see it like a decision tree in video games, and try to predict all outcomes on the branches and then its a far more weighty decision than it ever needed to be. I often ask others for advice, the ones I trust anyway.
@DiaryofaSickGrl Thats interesting, my kid also diagnosed hEDS was born without all wisdom teeth, and 4 adult teeth. They like to say how more evolved they are lmao.
@pigletish I got them a GoHenry card from 12-16, they charge you for using it but, it was worth it for "I forgot my bus card" as I could top it up from home on my phone and they had access immediately. Their bank didnt give contactless card until 16.
@adamfare1996 Im a parent I'm perfectly fine with it. Also, this would have helped me so much as a kid, I was denied access to medical care via abusive parents and the fact I had a serious ED, bipolar, SI and hEDS was therefore not addressed until i was an adult.
@jamesldowns Me realising in recovery that I don't actually like chocolate. Also me actually relapsing because my friend died, not because Asda put out their easter eggs early.
@brightblueorb My teen has sensory issues and hasnโt stopped wearing them since 2020. 1. The thick ones stop smell overload from traffic and shops 2. They get sick less when getting sick is a sensory nightmare/hell for them 3. It just took some research to find the right one
Iโve been in anorexia recovery for 11 years and because itโs been so long I got complacent. I got diagnosed with iron deficiency last year and decided to change my diet and that has spurred the biggest relapse Iโve ever had. I thought I was over this.
