Explaining the title track, ‘Honeydew,’ #JAYB said, “It has the meaning of a sweet term of endearment. It expresses my desire to work hard to show you my best, for you, my sweet one. ‘Sweetie’ is also a song for the fans. I made both songs while thinking of the fans.”
So, what do fans mean to JAY B?
“One of the lyrics from ‘Sweetie’ that resonates with me the most is, ‘I can't help you, but I can sing for you.’ I think I'm like an MP3 player to my fans. Realistically speaking, there isn't much I can actually do to help them physically. But I want to be there for them, and when I hear that I’ve helped them even a little, I'm really grateful.”
JAY B also showed humility regarding his level of public recognition. Asked whether he thought there are things the public misunderstands about him, he replied, “Misunderstand me? Does the public even know me? I think I need to make myself known now. They might know GOT7, but… They probably know Jinyoung because of his dramas. But when you look at me, JAY B, from the perspective of the general public, do they actually know me? Some people might, of course. Honestly, I don't think there is much to misunderstand. I guess that's also my responsibility. The responsibility for having kept myself away like that?” he said with a laugh.

GOT7’s JAY B spoke about the group’s significant contributions to JYP Entertainment in a new interview, highlighting how much they helped build the company and the revenue they generated during their time there.
“We probably built everything from the basement to the third floor, didn’t we?” he joked. He added “We generated more revenue than people might think. It’s a shame that this aspect of our contribution isn’t widely known.”

#GOT7’s #JAYB on past SNS controversies: “I should have been more aware of my position… The person I was back then is dead”
GOT7 member JAY B looked back on his past actions, acknowledging that he had been careless.
In the past, JAY B had been involved in several controversies, including an incident in which inappropriate photos were exposed during an SNS livestream and the disclosure of DMs he had sent to women. Some also pointed out that, despite his sincerity toward GOT7’s group activities, the controversies that arose in his private life had disappointed his fans.
Speaking about the controversies surrounding his past private SNS, he said, “I think I was careless back then. I really feel that I should have been more mindful of my responsibility toward myself.”
“Actually, when I’m not promoting, I don’t really think of myself as a celebrity. For example, it’s the same when I walk around the streets of Hapjeong. Ever since I was young, I’ve never really thought, ‘I’m a celebrity.’ If anything, I tried to behave like I was nobody, but I’ve come to realize that I should have lived with a certain awareness of my position. I’ve reflected on it a lot, too. I fully recognize the responsibility I bear.”
He revealed that he also felt deeply sorry toward his fans because of these controversies.
“Even when I was at JYPE, things like that never happened. Back then, all I thought about was working hard on my activities, but at some point, I think something went wrong with me. Realizing that made me feel that I needed to give more back to my fans.”
In particular, he emphasized that, regarding his past self, “The person I was back then is dead,” drawing laughter.
He also offered a request mixed with humor to fans who had recently started following him.
“I find it fascinating that people have newly come to like me. I wonder what part of me they saw that made them like me. I’m so grateful. Just please don’t dig too deeply into the past,” drawing more laughter.
He also shared a heartfelt message for the fans who had supported him for a long time.
“To my longtime fans, I want to say, ‘Thank you for being my friend.’ To those who have only recently gotten to know me, I want to say, ‘Thank you in advance for becoming my friend from now on.’ My fans feel like friends I can be comfortable with.”

#GOT7’s #JAYB: We probably built JYP’s headquarters from the basement to the third floor
GOT7 member JAY B, cleverly mentioned the group’s contribution to the growth of their former agency, JYP Entertainment.
Ahead of the release of his new single Chptr. 1, JAY B met with reporters at a café in Seoul’s Mapo District. When asked how much he thought GOT7 had contributed to JYPE, he answered, “We probably built everything from the basement up to the third floor, didn’t we?” drawing laughter.
“We generated more revenue than people might think. It’s a shame that this aspect isn’t widely known.”
GOT7 debuted under JYPE in 2014 and gained popularity both in Korea and verseas with songs such as “Stop Stop It,” “Just Right,” “If You Do,” and “Hard Carry.” Although their exclusive contracts with JYP ended in 2021, the members have continued pursuing their individual solo activities while also maintaining their group activities.
JAY B also drew attention by sharing an anecdote about a recent meeting with Park Jinyoung, JYPE’s CCO.
“Before this single came out, I met up with Jinyoung hyung and had a meal with him. I was hesitant because I was afraid he might scold me, so I wasn’t going to play him the song. But I gathered up the courage and let him hear it, and he really liked it.”
In particular, Park Jinyoung reportedly also showed interest in the choreography for the new song.
“I’ve heard him say that he liked a song before, but this was the first time he asked, ‘Do you have a choreography video, too?’ When I showed it to him, he said, ‘This is definitely good. I like this kind of thing.’”
He added, “Actually, I did think he would like it. I thought it might be Jinyoung hyung’s style.”
