I wrote about the Commonwealth War Graves Commissions' historic racism in this book - written in 2013, quoting the research of @michelevbarrett. If historians knew about it then, why it is only now that the CWGC is admitting to it?
The government has apologised after an inquiry found "pervasive racism" led to a failure to commemorate Black and Asian troops who died in WW1.
The inquiry was launched following a Channel 4 documentary presented by David Lammy.
The Labour MP called it a “watershed moment”.
