Sometimes it’s a bit refreshing to have polished story telling and real character development. I’ve had enough boring light saber battles and tedious power scaling bullshit to last me a lifetime.
@TheAlexSylvian The series does a great job fleshing out the world, the pantheon of gods and ascended, I appreciate that the magic gets fleshed out a bit, but stays soft. It’s a nice change of pace from more recent fantasy that focuses on over explained, hard magic systems.
@TheAlexSylvian I understand why people don’t feel this way, but I was hooked by book 1. I recommend going into the first book embracing how little context you have for what’s happening. The world and setting feels vast and unknowable at first, which I think is part of the charm.
