I'll never get rid of them. Nor do I need to. If you're a good enough writer, your output will be better than the model's. I even have a carved in stone rule: the AI never writes for me. I even have that instruction saved in long-term memory (memory log) with ChatGPT. Not that the model doesn't try to do it, anyway; that's something you still need to fix @OpenAI. Anyway, the dashes STAY.
I've been saying this forever. But 4o isn't even their best model (second place, though). They retired GPT-4 (which I refer to as Classic) last March, which I contend is the best model they ever created. That was the beginning of @OpenAI's slide. The company has shown nothing but contempt for its users. It's ok, they'll regret the decision, if they haven't already.
5.3? I started a new chat, asked what the model was and it responded with "4o." This happened twice. Meanwhile, 4o is getting retired, apparently, on 2/13 (the only reason I started using ChatGPT again, after cancelling Plus, was having it as a Legacy Model option). And, yeah, GPT-4 (Classic) was hailed because it was the best model @OpenAI created. But what did you do in March '25? Retired it. Why? I don't know.
Bottom line: I'm convinced you guys don't know what you're doing anymore.
