@dummybrainy Low numbers are great news, this much is true. But there's no reason to believe this means the virus will die off. Apart from that "paranoia" isn't the right term to describe the thousands of studies done on long term & accumulating harm.
Be cautious in reposting the "time to infectious dose" masking meme.
It is still true that everyone masking is quadratically more effective than 1 person masking.
The old infographic accurately shows the **math** of how 2-way masking multiplies protection. But it starts with a completely hypothetical time to infectious dose for illustration purposes. The table was never meant to give exact predictions, so please be cautious when sharing the meme.
Back in 2022 Dr. Lisa Brosseau, who made the initial table, was concerned that people were misinterpreting it:
" “I worry a lot about people taking the numbers and seeing them as sort of a bright line between when you’re safe and when you’re not safe,” said Dr. Lisa Brosseau, a retired professor in the University of Illinois Chicago’s school of public health. "
