The biggest road surprise in Kenya isn't in Nairobi.
It is the drive from Kitale to Nadapal, on the South Sudan border. A route once defined by insecurity, breakdowns and impassable roads is now over 500 kms of uninterrupted smooth tarmac through Kenya's largest county. Most Kenyans still think of Turkana as remote but it now offers one of the country's most spectacular long-distance highway drives.
Kalobeyei Bridge is simply the moment you realize the old map in your mind is no longer accurate.
@DxvidNjoka Hi David, I do have a podcast on YouTube https://t.co/pBtQxgbOgI focussed on spotlighting African trailblazers, culture and innovation. Do subscribe while you are there.๐ I suppose you are asking about a travel channel. I will look into that.
5/ Around Kainuk you will notice several security checkpoints. If it's your first time, don't panic.
The driver handles the formalities and before long you are back on the road. One pleasant surprise for this trip is that we didn't have to wait long around Kainuk. I have heard stories of vehicles spending hours there depending on the security situation, so this was a welcome bonus.
4/ Our first proper stop was in Nakuru. After Nakuru, the landscape starts changing. Bit by bit. The towns become smaller. The traffic becomes lighter.
Before you realize it, you are seeing a completely different side of Kenya.
That's one of my favourite parts of travelling by road, you don't just arrive somewhere. You watch the country transform.
3/ One thing you will quickly learn on this route. Don't watch the clock too much.๐
Long-distance buses have their own rhythm, picking up passengers, parcels and luggage along the way.
I'd actually recommend carrying a good playlist, a book or downloading a few episodes of your favourite podcast like https://t.co/dWOqPdvl7O
You'll thank yourself later.
2/ The journey starts in Eastleigh for most buses on this route. Our bus left just after 3 p.m. From there it's Nairobi CBD, Westlands, Kangemi then north.
I always enjoy watching Nairobi slowly disappear in the rear-view mirror. It reminds you just how quickly Kenya changes.
Those TikTok videos about homeless people in the Yues give me so much hope that there are incredibly amazing people out there in the world โค๏ธ๐๐
Zuchu dumping Simba over infidelity is one of the dumbest things I've heard this year. She honestly thought he was gonna settle down with her and be faithful? Simba? ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Kuna mtu mahali sai anasmamisha gorofa, bibi amedeliver a week ago, farm yake inarun, anaservice loan ya bank while keeping in touch with top honchos to influence policies in his locality.
Talk about PEAK male performance.
Bookmarking all the tweets about the E-filing system issues to use as evidence against opposing counsel when he argues that I filed the appeal out of time.
E-filing system has not been functioning properly, especially when it comes to filing new cases na sasa niko out of time๐ข
Those who lived through the days of Mada, Guda and Olivert Jabeti in Kisumu know the danger that goons can cause. A run in with these guys would secure you a nice fridge at Star Mortuary.
Just called a manager to ask for directions for a new branch and bro sounded so tensed and hung up on me๐ญ they're not believing I've come to snitch on them๐๐ definitely clearing evidence RN, but we shall be there ๐ญ
