Dear 1300SAINT,

I hope this letter finds you well. I had the pleasure of listening to NewDrug 2, and I must say, I have been thinking about it ever since. There is something about the whole tape that feels so complete, like every song has its proper place and nothing was put there without reason. I have listened through it more than once already, and each time I find myself enjoying it even more. You have made something that feels honest, dark, and full of character, and I truly believe you should be proud of it.

Of all the songs, “PainKillers” is the one that has stayed with me the most. There is something about that song that I cannot quite put into words, but I find myself returning to it every time I play the tape. It is easily my favorite. Still, I would be doing the rest of the project a disservice if I did not say that Encore, Nightgown, Tattoos, NotASong, and 808s all add something special to the record. The whole thing feels like one complete work rather than simply a collection of songs.

Knowing that this came from you in Atlanta makes it even more special to me. I have a great respect for the sound and spirit that comes from that city, and I feel that NewDrug 2 carries a character of its own while still feeling connected to where you come from.

The tape only came out yesterday, yet it already feels like something I will be returning to for a long while. Thank you for putting this into the world. I hope you continue making music, because there is something here worth hearing.
