Disney Appoints Karandeep Anand as Its First-Ever CTO

The Walt Disney Company has named Karandeep Anand, CEO of AI platform https://t.co/p24XRseonl, as its first Chief Technology Officer, with the appointment effective October 2.

The Indian-origin technology executive will join Disney as Senior Executive Vice President and CTO, reporting directly to CEO Josh D’Amaro. He will lead the company’s enterprise technology, infrastructure, data and AI platforms, product and engineering functions. Anand brings extensive experience in AI, cloud technology, consumer platforms and fintech. He spent 15 years at Microsoft, including work on the Azure platform, before taking senior leadership roles at Meta, including VP of Ads & Business Products. 🐆 Project Cheetah Hits New Milestone: India’s Cheetah Count Rises to 56

India’s cheetah population has increased to 56, including 36 cheetahs born on Indian soil.

The latest boost came after KGP12, an India-born female cheetah, gave birth to four cubs at Kuno National Park on September 18, 2026. Notably, KGP12 is the daughter of Gamini, who was brought to India from South Africa in 2023.

This marks a major milestone for Project Cheetah, as a cheetah born in India following the species’ reintroduction has now produced her own offspring.

📍 Kuno National Park: 53 cheetahs
📍 Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary: 4 cheetahs
📍 Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve: Being prepared as a third cheetah conservation site

Project Cheetah began at Kuno on September 17, 2022, with 8 cheetahs from Namibia, followed by 12 from South Africa in February 2023 and 9 from Botswana in February 2026.

Cheetahs were declared extinct in India in 1952, and their return seven decades later aims to establish a viable population through translocation, breeding and habitat expansion.
