@AndyMM_0 @luatunes @NewshubPolitics If landlords don't buy and/or sell up and exit the market, that increases the supply of housing to the owner-occupier market; a separate market looking for a place to live, forced to compete with the buy-to-let market, looking for a return.

Increased supply => lower prices.

@dhh Ironically, the etymology of the word "main" stems from "bodily strength", "force", "violent effort" etc.

They wanted us to replace a word meaning objectively "chief" or subjectively "greater", with one that could be associated with physical coercion.

@Pascal_Congress Pascal helped me learn C and was the most productive language on my Amiga. I then used Pascal, Modula-2 and Delphi in my career, and latterly even ALGOL. Even my current language du jour (GoLang) explicitly borrows from Pascal. RIP and Thank You, Niklaus.
