@BitterrootRadio@ItsAuntGigi@AnthonyCumia I was raised to be respectful but also to challenge anyone who lacked basic respect.
I think that moral standard helped me be a fairer officer as my behavioural expectations were clear.
UK prisons are very different to US ones.
My principles didn't change outside of the job.
@CuckooSmurfing@HazyPug@AnthonyCumia Interesting.
So what is your overall interpretation of the bibles teachings?
To be passive and weak, or moral courage, with self controlled strength, or would you say somewhere in the middle?
Mine is somewhere in the middle, but certainly not to allow ones self to be a doormat.
@ChoppsPete@RockHead4569@AnthonyCumia I like the gif Peter, that made me laugh.
I wonder, do you see the hypocrisy in your comment? Shows an outstanding lack of self awareness.
@ChoppsPete@AnthonyCumia Some interesting comments there Peter. Do you feel better now?
Couple of queries.
Is English your first language? And also, what from my comments, led you to believe I have an internet rotten brain (not that I'm sure I know what that means)
@JB72805@AnthonyCumia Well to be fair, it's not quite what I said, and I wasn't aware he was a Mormon preacher, nor was I aware he was just a kid, I assumed mid twenties.
@HazyPug@CuckooSmurfing@AnthonyCumia No I don't think it is.
I'm just giving you my understanding of its historical context and my interpretation of that particular passage, which as I said, is often misinterpreted.
@FuckJac71537600@AnthonyCumia Time to grow up... Have you been talking to my wife 😉
More seriously though, it's about having respect for yourself. No person has the right to talk you that way.
Of course you can walkway. I personally am not that person. I was brought up to stand up for ones self always.
@CuckooSmurfing@AnthonyCumia And that would be a misconception. Turning the other cheek was never supposed to promote victim hood.
It came from a back handed slap was used as in insult to a lesser person. Turning the other cheek would have force them to deliver an open handed slap, I. E. One to an equal.
@DadPopulum@RockHead4569@AnthonyCumia I'm not a practicing Christian, but I believe the bibles teachings are little more nuanced than that, and perhaps more about moral courage and self controlled strength with humility before God rather than timidity?
@st48235444@gmbusa9@ItsAuntGigi@AnthonyCumia Not sure the relevance a Muslim mayor of London or the rape gangs have to my comment?
Bit of an odd one that.
Also, it's not online bravado, or not meant to be. It's was a statement of my opinion and via the life rules I live by.
You can have a different ones, that's OK.
@RockHead4569@AnthonyCumia I'll be honest, I don't tend to see any religious person out in public let alone be verbally abused to the point of needing to, other than videos on X.
I did see a couple of priests spark guys out in a pub about 30 years ago, but that was them defending another person.
@GeoGeo81730853@54JohnBull The sub was brilliant, until they priced the shit out of it, plus it was just a little bit tto small in terms of litres.
I think the PD 6 litres is bang on, but it's not cheap. Cheaper than a pub pint mind.
@rugmuncher78@54JohnBull Did the whole pinter thing for 2 years and it was fun, but on the whole like most craft beer, it was OK for 2 then you'd want something else.
PD is way better if you want something unusual like Lowenbrau. If you like mainstream just stick to cans and bottles I'd say.
