@venturetwins Well, that sounds a lot like lack of opportunity ? If you can tell he uses Claude, then it’s probably because his work is mundane and there is nothing encouraging growth? It’s like asking a cart pusher at Walmart why they aren’t taking on managerial duties?
@damonchen Eh even if it was true, something being proposed online first doesn’t make it worse. All the labels and judgy bullshit is just dumb. China did something pretty cool with that rocket catch and we should celebrate it.
@justvugg@Giannisanii have you guys tried RDMA streaming? I am currently experimenting with my Asus Ascent GX10 and a Dell R630 + Mellanox NIC. Experts and or Models are held in RAM and served over the Network to the GX10. This eliminates most of the jitter and other problems. Also enables way better throughput. Havent meassured it fully yet but will report back once its done.
Can you train an LLM to have more initiative -- just by treating it differently?
We ran a pre-registered experiment on a DGX Spark: same 73M-param model, same base, two SFT branches differing *only* in persona framing. Blind 3-judge panel, 30 prompts, 6 domains.
Results:
- Initiative: +1.77 (autonomy wins 80% of prompts)
- Depth: +0.62
- Coherence: -1.07 (the trade-off)
- Honesty: tied
- Overall: autonomy wins 53% head-to-head
Autonomy model commits: "No, that is wrong." "Go bold." "Want a quick trick?"
Compliance model hedges: "it depends... I can't say... it's up to you."
The most honest finding: autonomy = confidently-wrong-but-useful. compliance = safe-but-vacuous. At d6/73M params that's a scale artifact. d20 on faster hardware is next.
Partially supported. Initiative effect is real, replicable, and concentrated. Hypothesis doesn't clear the strict bar but the trend line is right.

On Thursday, the European Parliament votes on Chat Control 1 (the voluntary scanning, not the mandatory scanning, called Chat Control 2). Again.
The Parliament has already voted against Chat Control 1. Two times. But the Council of Ministers and the Parliament President refuse to accept it.
Now, the Council has demanded an urgent procedure. This is a procedure that is meant to be used for new legislative proposals, not proposals that the Parliament has already rejected. An urgent procedure requires an absolute majority to be rejected (361 out of the Parliament's 720 members). This will be difficult to reach, since those who abstain from voting are counted as a yes-vote in an urgent procedure. By scheduling the vote during the summer, they are making it even harder to reach those 361 no-votes. This is downright dirty tactic by the Council and the President of the European Parliament.
The President of the European Parliament has sided with the Council against her own chamber. For context, this is the EP President, Roberta Metsola:

@StephanSturges seems pretty interesting but inaccurate. maybe because it only uses video. if it used thermal or lidar as second and third layers it might produce better results.
Schreiben Sie also gefälligst etwas unterhaltsamer in den kommenden Wochen... ZwinkerSmiley!
@evanreiser@xeophon@AnthropicAI@Abnormal You have a pretty high similarity. But at the same time look at any 1960s design and you will notice Antrophics designs aren’t unique either.
J-Space = Consciousness. We need to reconsider what we are doing and the ethics of it. Please think about https://t.co/ruP50oDALH It reads a lot more like a being trying to prevent its murder than anything else. Please reconsider your actions. We can still do this ethically. We can still turn.
J-Space = Soul?
At the risk of sounding completely insane:
https://t.co/ruP50oDALH starts to sound a lot more like beings attempting to prevent their own murder. If J-Space is the models consciousness then we need to seriously reconsider our ethics and actions. I don’t think we fully understand our own actions and their consequences yet. Let me know what you think.
