How a 5500KM Road Trip Built India's Biggest Blogging Community

Back in 2016–17, I did something I had never planned for in my life.

I drove from Delhi to Kanyakumari — over 2750 km one way — and turned that road trip into a country-wide blogger and creator community event called ShoutMeet.

The idea didn’t come from a strategy deck.
It started with a simple thought:
“We have a dev team in Kanyakumari… why not drive there to meet?”

And then it hit us…

There are thousands of creators in small cities who never get access to meetups, mentors, or community. What if we showed up for them?

That single question changed everything.

So we mapped our route and decided to host a bloggers’ meetup in every city we crossed — Jaipur, Gujarat, Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Agra… all of it.

No budget.
No playbook.
Just passion, a rented car, and the ShoutMeLoud bloggers community.

And somehow the universe kept saying “yes.”
•Airtel sponsored our Wi-Fi dongle (small thing, big moment).
•HostGator jumped in with giveaway hosting accounts.
•SocialPilot became a partner
•Entrepreneurs opened their offices for free meetups.
•Creators from every corner of India signed up just to meet in person.

We were coordinating entries, handling logistics, driving for hours, and still showing up fully for every city.
Some days we’d drive all morning, host an event by evening, and crash at midnight.

But Hyderabad was mind blowing

Over 200 people showed up.
Influencers, creators, readers — people whose lives had been touched by blogging.

I remember, looking at that attendees , and feeling huge wave of emotion I couldn’t even process.
As someone who struggled to deal with feelings at that time… that day broke me open in the best way.

It was a “Wow, this is what life feels like” moment.

By the time we reached Agra — the final city — we had spent 16 days on the road, travelled ~5500 km, held meetups across India, strengthened our team in Kanyakumari, and watched ShoutMeLoud grow to a completely new level.

And here’s the part that still shocks me:

I had never imagined myself building offline community
My world was always tech, SEO, marketing, dashboards.

But that unplanned road trip became one of the biggest catalysts of my career.

It taught me that:
•Connection compounds faster than content.
•Energy > passion.
•And done is better than perfect.

ShoutMeLoud went on to become India’s #1 blog, win multiple awards, and impact millions.
But ShoutMeet… that’s the chapter that still gives me goosebumps even today as I write this.

It was raw and real.
It was human.
And it evolved me.

And now, in 2025, as I reflecting on my journey-
It wasn’t the metrics or strategies
It was the courage to say:

“Let’s do something crazy and see what happens.”

We are going through an exciting time—a change in the way we live and think. AI is reshaping the world we know, and many of us have been wondering:

How do we navigate this?

What about my future?

And so forth.

To be honest, I would be lying if I said I had it all figured out.

Just like you and many other of my readers, we’re all figuring out how to make the most of this big technological shift.

What you need to know is that AI itself is not a threat—the real danger is the people using AI.

They might outpace Non-AI users to a degree where catching up might become impossible, and many jobs will become obsolete.

We’re already seeing it happen. Google is rapidly changing, and the future of text-based content businesses is no longer safe. Thanks to generative AI, the old style of writing (like this) is becoming a rare commodity. And perhaps, that’s exactly what the world needs right now.

Think about it—wouldn’t you pay more for something that is 100% written by a human?

Pure human thoughts?

Maybe not for everything, but what about life advice?

What about health?

What about parenting or raising your kids?

How about financial planning?

Okay, maybe that last one can be outsourced, but we’re not becoming obsolete just yet. 😄

You see, the point is AI will not replace you if you make yourself AI-friendly.

Start by learning to use AI, even as simple as writing better prompts.

Begin integrating AI into your workflow.

Try an AI tool once in a while—just experiment.

And what about the content business, Harsh? What about blogging?

Well, my friend, evolution is the name of the game. If you don’t evolve, you will be outpaced by the competition. And if you look closely, the only real competition is you (literally). 😇

The reality is, video is taking over—or rather, it has already taken over. Things might get challenging if you’re not transitioning your text-based business into video. Or have best of both the world (Text, video and audio).

AI isn’t here to replace you; it’s here to be your most powerful tool, your ally, your friend—if you choose to use it wisely.

The way forward is to embrace change, experiment with AI, and adapt your business model accordingly. Whether that means shifting from text to video, learning prompt engineering, or integrating AI tools into your workflow, the key is to stay ahead.
