Kherson today. Freedom square. We end each of our trips to Kherson here. A sacral place where Kherson civilians were protesting against Russian occupation, fearlessly. Now attacked by the Russian bombs. Russians are 3-5 km from here, on the other side of Dnipro river. Despite regular shelling, life continues here, including cultural life. We made several literature / cultural events here, underground, with @PenUkraine. Russia responds to each Ukrainian attack against its war machine with an attack on civilians and civilian infrastructure. This shows how sadistic but also how helpless Russia is today. It’s a thanatocracy, government by death, cruel but increasingly helpless thanatocracy

Public buses stopped running downtown due to the high risk of being hit by a Russian drone.

Always take this sort of thing w/ a grain of salt. People in these situations say anything to ensure their safety. Not saying she's insincere, but there is clearly fear in some of these videos, warranted or not. Seems the #ZSU is behaving so far, as they largely have in the war.

Look at the black smoke in the picture. Is this how grain burns? More likely, Russia hit a tank with diesel used as fuel for tanks.

Russia has repurposed S-300 and S-400 air defense systems to strike ground targets near civilian areas in Ukraine with terrible accuracy. They'll replace them pretty quickly, but maybe this will make for a few quieter days and nights in the south.

Look, either Russian intelligence didn't know (failure) or they did know and they couldn't prevent it (failure). Given they made arrests earlier this week, it's most likely they knew something would go down in #Moscow.
