New paper: "Flexible tails for normalizing flows" https://t.co/1gPFatYUJI with Tennessee Hickling, exploring links between generative models and extreme value theory. Ask me about it at #isba2024 wednesday poster session (or any time during the conference)

Come join us in Edinburgh! This thread, from one of my fantastic colleagues, advertises our machine learning faculty position. (The photo is across the core atrium of our main research building, the Informatics Forum.)
Season 5 of #OneWorldABC will start soon!
The nominations for next OWABC speakers are now open; contact @tamborrino_m is you have any idea!
Aussie @clarabayes and @dtfraz joined the Organising Committee of the seminar series!
I am delighted to share that ACM Transactions on Probabilistic Machine Learning (TOPML - yes, it reads top ML 🙂) is a new ACM journal on probabilistic ML. This is the TOPML homepage (the rest of the journal's site is under construction, watch this space):

Our website devoted to collecting resources and papers on simulation-based inference got an upgrade. @JasonLoCM is using ChatGPT to categorize papers (not everything is on the arXiv). @datascience_uw

@dennisprangle Not aware of any such mailing lists.
But I’d say Twitter is by far the most effective way to learn about internships and also get into interview processes. They’ll need to follow the “right” people and proactively respond/DM to internship alerts 🚨
Can anyone suggest mailing lists etc where my PhD student should look for machine learning internships in the UK? I used to recommend ML-news but there's not as many internship posts there these days.
Good paper. training massive models on massive datasets using massive compute is so inefficient, we need new and better ideas… Paucity of compute in academia may fuel more methodological creativity… https://t.co/zmtnPw2uYZ
Bayes Comp satellites Day 2 starts with temperatures plummeting down to -30C, clear skies -- clothe up properly. It will warm up by 20C by the afternoon lunch & ski!
I've got round to writing my first blog post of the 2020s! https://t.co/GVuviNuzDX
It revisits #ABC posterior convergence (as ε → 0), reviewing previous proofs, extending them, and discussing the underlying mathematical results.
On June 19-22, Gothenburg (Sweden) will host NORDSTAT 2023, the 29th Nordic Conference in Mathematical Statistics.
ABSTRACTS SUBMISSION IS NOW OPEN! (contributed/invited talks, posters and it is also possible to contribute a session).
Hope to receive your submission! Thread 👇
