@feralhermit@Anokataxs True true. Idk I guess I usually saw her as taking over what was Bernie’s role in the Senate and kinda being the big trailblazer for the young progressive movement getting into the senate. But if she can get a presidential campaign going, happy to support that too
@Anokataxs Fair enough, although I wonder what type of successor he’d prop up, and if the resulting primary would look like Michigan with the spending. I doubt Schumer will risk conceding his seat to a progressive without serious resistance
The Democratic Party will see the Republicans protesting against data centers and come to the conclusion that they need to be more evil towards trans kids to pick up their votes
reminder that Biden specifically pushed to get infrastructure projects funded in red states as a gesture of goodwill
now Trump cancels projects in blue states out of spite
these people are evil, plain and simple
If an elected official said “don’t just come in here speaking Hebrew, don’t come out with your Jewish music on” it would be a weeks-long scandal and every candidate in the state would have to condemn it.
This anti-Arab racism will go by without a word from the Stevens campaign.
Trump says Democrats forgot to rig the election in 2016, successfully rigged it while *he* was president in 2020, then forgot how to rig it again in 2024. So the only election Democrats supposedly stole was the one he himself controlled.
You have to be a special kind of stupid to believe this bullshit.
Right now, Democrats cannot win just by being in opposition to Trump. They have to actually stand for something.
We need to get back to basics a little bit if we want to bring back voters who may have left our party in recent years. Here’s what I stand for as a Midwestern Democrat that favors pragmatism:
An economy where if you work hard and play by the rules, you get ahead, and your kids do better than you did. That is the core of it, and everything else flows from there.
One job that pays you well, with good benefits, where you can save money every month. Not an extra side hustle and still coming up short.
A home you can actually afford. Not waiting until you are fifty to buy your first house. A place you own, where you can raise your family and build equity to pass on to your kids.
Good public schools for our kids, that help train them for the jobs of the future, not the economy of thirty years ago.
Healthcare that is as good as what people get in other wealthy countries, where you do not go bankrupt because you got sick. In my mind, that means a national insurance plan available to anyone at any age. A system that rewards you for taking care of yourself.
And a common set of democratic rules that everyone plays by. No exceptions. No one man or one team can bend the system for themselves while everyone else follows the rules. And in my mind, that shouldn’t be partisan.
That is the vision.
Platner was accused of SA and immediately 90% of progressives called on him to drop out
Cuomo was accused of SA and centrists supported him and threw a hissy fit when Zohran won the nomination, because defending Capital is more important than not electing a sex pest
These people will look at the closest thing to legacy of Roosevelt we have left in the face and decide to emulate Ronald fucking Reagan. The party establishment is a joke.
Let's be clear. The Communist Control Act is still on the books although it is essentially a dead letter at this point. But there was a time such things were taken seriously and actually enforced by our security agencies. And so they should again.
The DSA is a Marxist revolutionary organization and should be disqualified from office in the United States, full stop. Any question about what they believe and what their goals are can be cleared up with their own words about the destruction of the West and America, not to mention their utterly insane social theories. People need to take this very seriously. Go watch some videos from the DSA conventions over the past couple of years. It's actually shocking that these lunatics are now steering a major party in the United States.
I really recommend everyone follow Stu Smith of the Manhattan Institute (@thestustustudio), nobody has chronicled and archived the DSA better. It's all there. And it's insane.
Darializa herself should not be seated in the House because of her own personal support for the destruction of the West and this country. Speaker Johnson should take up the issue based on grave concerns regarding her potential fidelity to to the oath of office. I've said this multiple times now.
There is a real question on the table here -- does the oath of office actually mean something, or is it just boilerplate? If the oath is a meaningful component of qualifying for elected office, then it's very difficult to see how any DSA member can hold office in good faith.
It's really that simple. And it needs to be litigated sooner rather than later.
Once again -- the Constitution is not a suicide pact. We are under no obligation to enable revolutionaries who openly hate our nation and welcome them into our government as valid good-faith political actors.
To the contrary; a functional society has every obligation to stop them before they gain power.
Marxist revolutions only end one way. And we have a very limited window to stop them.
If the governments job isn’t to secure even basic shit like clean drinking water for its citizens, what’s its actual purpose?! THIS IS WHAT WE WANT OUR TAXES PAYING FOR
