This is old news but… since @GovPritzker@JBPritzker wants a refund for Illinois taxpayers… can we get one for the $20bil he has received in contracts? How much has the budget gone up since he was first elected?
According to multiple reports from a 2022 investigation by the Better Government Association (BGA), which examined Governor JB Pritzker’s financial disclosures and state contracts, his blind trust includes interests in 12 companies (specifically described as a dozen for-profit companies) that have collectively secured more than $20 billion in Illinois state contracts since he took office in 2019.
This figure refers to 12 specific companies identified where the trust’s holdings intersect with state business, such as Centene Corp. (a major Medicaid contractor). Note that Pritzker’s overall portfolio—placed into the blind trust upon taking office—has historically included stakes in hundreds of entities (over 300 per pre-2019 disclosures), but the “12 companies” figure is the one repeatedly cited in coverage focused on potential conflicts involving state contracts.
More recent sources (e.g., 2025 tax summaries and 2026 references) confirm the blind trust remains in place but do not provide updated details on the total number of holdings or companies within it, as blind trusts are designed to limit the beneficiary’s direct knowledge/control, and public disclosures list assets without values or full breakdowns. No newer investigations appear to have revised the 12-company count specifically tied to state contract overlaps.
This information stems primarily from the BGA’s reporting and subsequent coverage in outlets like Illinois Policy Institute, ABC7 Chicago, and others. Pritzker’s office has maintained that the trust is “blind,” meaning he has no involvement in investment decisions. For the most current official details, check Illinois governmental ethics filings or statements of economic interest, though they typically list entities without specifying exact counts or a total “companies” figure beyond what’s been reported.

@hippyygoat That’s California and it looked like that before Trump got involved. Also, hasn’t California spent billions of dollars on the homeless and they have done nothing but increase the amount of homeless people?
“They reported me to the state for selling pickles and green beans.”
“The government tells me I can’t sell food I grew on my OWN land.”
Meanwhile, the same system that bans farm-fresh jars greenlights store shelves loaded with pesticides and chemical-soaked junk.

The raw milk panic? Built on nothing. @HighWireTalk
@Rep_Walkinshaw Wait… I thought 8 democrats broke with party lines and joined republicans to reopen the government… couldn’t they have done that the whole time?
Primary Elections people
America first needs to show up in mass to every primary election and end these incumbent Rino's at the starting line.

This is hogwash. Completely misleading the American people and it’s irresponsible.
Lawmakers — including folks on the House side — are trying to shoehorn a massive change to federal hemp law into a government funding bill that has nothing to do with reopening the government.
It is a shady maneuver that makes funding contingent on wiping out an entire industry. I am not asking for anything other than removing this provision and debating it on its own, in daylight, with transparency.
Also, it’s the Speaker who has delayed reopening by not voting until Wednesday!
There are so many other issues with the ACA but in reference to your scenario… does your car insurance cover oil changes, tire rotations and other major maintenances? Does your car insurance cover if you blow a gasket on the engine or need a new transmission? No. And many of those issues are preventable if you drive the car correctly and keep up on your regularly scheduled maintenance. Not health insurance. Health insurance isn’t insurance like car insurance is insurance. If it were, they would only cover accidental injuries and non-preventable conditions. Heart disease, diabetes and some cancers are very preventable. These wouldn’t be covered if health insurance were actually “insurance.” Call it healthcare subscriptions or something else but for your analogy, comparing it to Life or Fire is a poor comparison.
