@ddhitchens Didn't Mark Harper do enough damage when he was a Tory minister. Now he wants to prolong suffering. The vast majority want this to pass for pitys sake get on with passing this essential bill. It's a private members bill not part of the government's election pledge.
"Increasing physical activity has health benefits across the life course. As part of this, we need to make walking and cycling more accessible, and safer, as well as access to green space easier and more equitable."

@Chris_Boardman@2wheelsgoodBrum Can you come down to Bournemouth and get them to up their act and fully commit to an active travel plan. We are one of the most congested towns in the country.
I see that Reform UK are saying they plan to abolish all LTNs it's about time we started calling them Child safety zones. The change of language might just change the perception.
@Heidi_Labour@activetraveleng@Chris_Boardman@limebike@CityWestminster Great to see you talking about active travel. The country will thank you forever if you seriously invest and follow the Dutch example. Ignore the negative trolling and go for it, pester RR for the funding needed.
I interviewed Chris Boardman about his many careers, including current role at Active Travel England. He told me that fact-free anti-cycling media stories are harming the UK's health as they put off politicians from making brave but necessary decisions.

🚗 Great news for Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole!
BCP Council will receive an extra £1.9m to tackle potholes next year—bringing their total funding to £7.4m. That’s more resources to fix our roads, save drivers money on repairs, and keep travel smoother and safer.
@VikkiSlade72 @DorsetStudioSch Thanks for your reply Vikki and I appreciate the work that you do but I just don't buy the farmers getting away with paying Inheritance tax. The price of farm land has risen disproportionately to the claim of low profits which discourages new people into farming.
Yesterday’s Westminster Hall debate on rural cycling infrastructure, tabled by @fivanmierlo MP, showed strong cross-party support 🚲
We briefed MPs on cycling's economic, health & environmental benefits.
Minister @simonlightwood confirmed future active travel funding plans 🌱
@carltonreid@LouHaigh @laura_laker Sadly, this does not seem to be unprecedented, even using my criteria, Carlton. Much much bigger than last year isn’t unprecedented. We should look forward to the announcement that this is pump-priming money aimed to prepare for a transformation of the way we can travel.
Budget provides additional £100 mn for cycling and walking infrastructure in 2025-26. This is NOT the "unprecedented level of funding" that transport secretary @LouHaigh told @laura_laker was coming. Meanwhile, motorists get yet another fuel duty freeze. Climate change anyone?
Even people who love their cars, or really need their cars, or both, can still probably admit that the worst thing about the city they live in is that there are too many cars.
@BenPBradshaw @LouHaigh This is the best news in ages and makes all the campaigning and leafletting worth it. Thanks Ben for all your previous work. Finally a government that understands the overwhelming evidence.
@LouHaigh@Chris_Boardman @laura_laker So refreshing to see this change of attitude the benefits of active travel are so overwhelming it can't be ignored. Please support this and you will be rewarded at the next election
