If you learn a Puli’s a dog breed, you’d correctly infer they’ve got four legs and fur. But when knowledge editors inject facts into LLMs, do they generalize too? Using our new TAXI dataset, we find editors indeed generalize, but way worse than people https://t.co/bvTKgof7tg
@DataSciFact People tend not to appreciate this point exactly, although they do see the large number of reviews as an indicator of popularity and therefore quality https://t.co/hIzJcnaeUA
Totally blown away by these findings!
In the interests of moving the goalposts, I wonder how GPT3 might handle novel 2nd order relations in the digit task? Like a progression where the addend changes (e.g. first x, then 2x). ChatGPT seems to struggle:

It's the largest strike in the US since 2019.
Many UC workers earn < $24k/yr. A PhD student I spoke to said they donate blood plasma to make ends meet.

@JeffRouder My bigger picture take is this situation does feel tough. What’s tough is teachers have an ethics motivating them beyond pay. Higher ups leverage and abuse this to make you feel conflicted as you are feeling now. Similar things happen in healthcare, social work, etc.
@JeffRouder I was a UCLA TA years ago, wages were unlivable and uni housing a joke. My guess is missing a week(?) of class never made or broke anyone’s career but I’d bet that a living wage has often made the difference (I only made it through stably w parents‘ help)
