On Sept. 30, 2023, around 4am in Bellevue, Washington, 26-year-old Ting Ye was driving a white 2020 Porsche 911 with passenger Yabao Liu, 27, at over 90–100 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Traffic cameras show the car racing through intersections, skidding sideways with heavy tire smoke, slamming into a cement barricade, launching airborne, and landing upside down.

Liu died at the scene. Ye survived.

Responders noted a strong smell of alcohol on her breath. She later refused to cooperate with police, then fled via Canada to China before being charged with vehicular homicide.

No extradition treaty exists between the US and China, so she will likely never face justice.
