I tend to jump into things too quickly.

Every month, I set aside a day to prep meals for my dog. Last Friday, I got home at 11pm after a long day, and without thinking, I went straight into prepping four weeks of meals.

As the company grows, the job changes. What got me here was speed, urgency, and execution. But those same habits won’t get me there.

Perhaps awareness works the same way. When I lose perspective, I probably can't tell that I've lost it. But mapping my shadows and knowing where my strengths can slip, can help me course-correct before it affects the people around me.

So I'm going to start spending a bit of time each week exploring things outside tech. A book, a podcast, speaking to someone new. Because the more dots I collect, the more ideas I'll connect.

I need to read more, listen to more podcasts, and acquire more general knowledge about different industries.

It's about connecting dots that most people don't even see. And those dots only appear when you expose yourself to more variety. Different fields, different people, different ways of thinking.
