In the #Herefordshire village of Mordiford a young girl Maud found a baby wyvern in the forest & reared it on milk as a pet. When it grew bigger it developed a taste for human flesh but wouldn't hurt Maud. The wyvern was slain but Maud wept for her lost friend #FolkloreThursday

Today's #GraysonsArtClub inspiration is from War Rugs. I have a small collection of these going back to the 80's. A fascinating if tragic cultural reaction to various invasions of Afghanistan. Often sold to soldiers, sometimes based on propaganda leaflets thrown from planes.
Mary Frances Heaton was declared insane & incarcerated in an asylum for life after calling out a vicar who owed her money. She used embroidery to protest the injustices she suffered. This weekend, a blue plaque was unveiled in Wakefield to mark her life 👏
