Is it just me, or can anyone else look at a youtube thumbnail, maybe watch about 10 seconds of the intro, and immediately read the situation?
I can. Here's what my gut told me:
- Long time programmer.
- Dislikes AI because of environment
- Dislikes AI because it gave him existential dread
- Only social account is a BlueSky
- Has never tried to seriously use AI to build anything seriously, which is confirmed in the video due to his complete lack of awareness regarding the latest frontier models.
Dude what? At this point, it's an old business. I posted for about 12+ years straight, at 1-2 videos per week.. Last 3-4 months I'm at about 1x per month now. I sell software/hardware(soon) now to pool players and it's my primary money maker now, by choice.
How'd I get there? Not hand coding it, but by utilizing AI. That's why I pivoted to teaching AI design/code the last year+ as it got better. It made sense.
No other agenda, just being honest how it has been a massive benefit to me.
"Your side gig is to ridicule people not using AI as a way to promote how useful AI is so you can make an extra buck?"
I'm gaining nothing from this. Just posting my honest thoughts. Whether it received 2 likes or 2,000 likes, they're my honest thoughts and I don't care about the exposure.
@rwpopulist I have 1.1m subs on YouTube with over 16 years of videos teaching UI/UX and front-end dev, along with some backed.
I'm so glad to be done with that slow shit.
I haven't tried to sell anything design/code/course related in months. I'm too busy focusing on my own startup FusionCue, which now has over 100 paying users after the first month and growing every day.. all made possible with AI.
I'd never be able to build software this feature-packed and complex before AI. And neither would anyone else, at least not as a 1 person team and not in the time it has taken.
There's tremendous joy focusing on building the product itself. I get it, it's subjective.. and for these people it's real.
But maybe set aside the bias and give it an honest effort. Try to actually build something with it; the latest AI models like Opus 5.5. The shit he said in that video does not stand with Opus 5.5 or even the models just before it.
None, no skill at all involved in building something with AI?
Guarantee if you take 100 trained UI/UX designers and devs.. and then 100 normans who've never touched design and code in their life..
..and give them the task of building the same type of app with AI.. I'm willing to be there's going to be a large difference in the quality of those apps.
@alexanderOpalic What is it with AI haters using the term clanker? lmao. A computer is a clanker, and you're using it.
But to translate what you're saying, he'd rather execute at the speed of a snail as a form of cope.
Just say it out loud to get it over with:
"This 'internet' of computing machines and protocols is really more of a limited peacetime prototype or demo that got out of control and was somehow accidently pushed into production a few decades ago. Shoulda said so earlier."
Awkward.
I will gladly pay around $400 a month in Claude subscriptions to knock out the work that (a) I couldn't on my own and (b) for 1/20th the time it'd take you to do by hand.
The efficiency gains and opportunities it unlocks are undeniable.
As far as them pulling the plug? Nope, won't happen. Basic economics prevent it, at this point. The open source alternatives, the massive amount of demand that will influence every human engineer on the planet to find an alternative solution? yeah..
No going back.
@madonna_matt I like RFK solely for the fact that he's a thorn in the side of the mainstream medical establishment, which is a great fucking thing.
If I had to pick the single most backwards, inefficient, damage-causing industry in the US, it is the medical industry.
