Something I learned in this course that connects to another class I took (Molecular Bio) is the different elements that make up the bacterial genome. Biochem brought it all full circle & gave a new look at it! #hunterbiochemistry
My #lightbulbmoment was when I was at work and found out that Ubiquitination is commonly used for certain cancer therapies. It targets different ligases to alter the signaling pathways of the enzymes responsible. #hunterbiochemistry
Papain is a protein-digesting enzyme found in delicious papayas! It helps with the breakdown of multiple vitamins, which are cofactors, so we can digest them. Something I found interesting about papain is that its already in many dietary supplements #hunterbiochemistry
Papaya contains a digestive enzyme known as papain, which is often used in digestive enzyme supplements that support the health of the digestive system

@bsullivan1044 An interesting fact I found out about your protein (1GFL) is that the researchers that found it discovered a new shape of protein! This is called the “beta-can” shape. #hunterbiochemistry
An interesting fact I learned about this protein is that its architecture INS described as a “2-layer sandwich” which means it has 2 domains squished together like a sandwich!

@karinaababina @LonzaPB Lonza is an amazing company! Have you thought about doing a tour there? Seeing all of the different labs really brings everything into perspective. #hunterbiochemistry
@chasing_bio I’m focusing on the pharmacy side & going to eat my PharmD. There is an option to dual in public health too, but I’m not sure yet! #hunterbiochemistry
Hello everyone! The main area of science I’m interested in pharmacology and public health. Pharmacy is a passion of mine & I hope biochem can help me better understand the mechanisms/pathways of the human body #hunterbiochemistry
@TrendsBiochem is a twitter page I found, authored by Dr. Sannie Culbertson. On their page they tweet about several new trends in the biochem industry & articles that help explain these new trends in more detail. #hunterbiochemistry
