I had such a great time at Stoneman Elementary’s Welcome Back Ice Cream Social. There was music, dancing, family fun activities, and ice cream! Thank you to Dr. Megia, Stoneman Staff and Teachers, and the parents, scholars and community for such a wonderful event.

Yesterday was such an amazing day! It was the official MOU signing ceremony for the partnership between California State University East Bay and Pittsburg Unified School District.

The partnership is for the Pittsburg Unified School District’s and Cal State East Bay’s guaranteed admissions program. PUSD is the first school district in Contra Costa County to establish this Guaranteed Admission Program with CSU East Bay.

Some of the classes even provide a free labtop upon completion of the course. I want to thank our Parent Hub team, parents, families, and partnerships for such a wonderful night and all of their great work. Many Congratulations to our parents and families.

On November 19th I had the honor of attending our parent celebration, which was in honor of our parents who completed a parent-family workshop through our Pittsburg Unified School District Parent Hub. families.

Through a partnership with California State University, Fresno, Pittsburg Unified School District (PUSD) and the PUSD Parent Hub, we offer free online digital literacy, financially literacy classes, and so much more to the parents in our community.

Yesterday, I attended the first day of the Bay valley league (BVAL) championship for our Pittsburg High Girls’ Tennis team! They did a great job and played their hearts out. Great job on making it through the quarter finals match.

The Academic Achievers Ceremony at Pittsburg High School was an amazing ceremony! The ceremony highlighted scholars who earned a 3.0 GPA or higher across three categories: Merit, Honor Roll, and Academic Excellence. There were over 150 scholars who were awarded.Congrats Scholars!

State Superintendent Tony Thurmond, Assemblymember Anamarie Avila Farias, and County School Board Trustee, Yazmin Llamas came to Pittsburg High school to celebrate the growth and gains that our scholars across the district made on the CASPP exam.
