According to a new report, families would "need an income increase of roughly $257,000 to meet the federal government’s definition of affordable child care" 🤯👎🚨
The answer is clear - more public investment and less boundaries to accessing #childcare🗣️📢

This October, we honor those impacted by breast cancer and recognize the connection between physical and mental health. Access to behavioral health support is essential while navigating diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Together, we can break stigma and promote healing for all.
Last week, the Network’s Public Policy team had the pleasure of visiting Children's Resource & Referral of Santa Barbara County!
Thank you, Michelle Graham, Jacqui Banta, Rosa Padilla, and Christine Fleenor, for giving us a tour of your Headquarters/Agency in Santa Maria and for allowing us to play and explore in your newly merged R&R Discovery Museum. Your innovation and creativity in all of your programs, facilities, and partnerships exemplify the heart of resource and referrals. Visit their amazing museum at https://t.co/hOSB0BBm2k!
Several members of our team just got back from BlackECE’s SECOND annual Symposium with its groundbreaking theme of "Dismantling Linguistic Oppression: The Path Toward Language Justice for Black Children in Early Care and Education.”
When we talk about culturally and linguistically affirming care, what we mean is….. A) formal recognition that Black language exists, B) acceptance of Black language in the classroom, and C) inclusion of Black language in early learning education, research, and policy.
Check out BlackECE and everything they have to offer at https://t.co/siuHnWXf2w and don’t miss next year’s symposium!
Lily Stewart, our Policy & Advocacy Associate at the Network, provided public comment during the state’s first Select Committee on Child Care Costs.
She highlighted the role that resource and referrals (R&Rs) play within the child care ecosystem and how they can uniquely speak to the local needs of both parents and providers. This new committee will likely meet again sometime in October. Stay tuned for more updates! We are proud of you, Lily!
The "One Big Beautiful Bill" is not beautiful at all. It will have long-lasting, permanent impacts on our communities' health, economic stability, and safety. These are not just line items, These are LIFELINES! Read the Network's full response: https://t.co/P1FVhXUHJg
BREAKING: Unbelievable. AOC EXPOSES the Trump Administration for ending legal status in the US and MAKING people undocumented - then having the audacity to call them illegal when they were here documented. This is evil.
"Even as families are already struggling, states will be unable to do more for low-income families...No person, no family, no community, no state will be spared"
This is a warning—and a call to action. We must fight policies that harm children and families!https://t.co/XhcevIsJcv
"Disaster recovery systems regularly overlook the youngest children and their needs"
#childcare availability must be one of the first steps in natural disaster recovery plans in order for #families, #employers, and the #economy to have needs met ‼️🙌

Today, we're highlighting 4Cs in Alameda County. 4Cs has many programs and offerings for families and providers in English and Spanish. There is monthly food distribution, in-person and online learning opportunities for child care providers, and a children's fair May 17th.
This week, I am headed to Nevada, Arizona, and Colorado with @AOC, @GregCasar, and @StevenHorsford to hold town halls with working class Americans.
Together, we will stand strong in the struggle against authoritarianism and oligarchy.
I hope you'll join us.
Around 1/3 of child care providers rely on Medi-Cal for access to health care. Cuts would be devastating for providers who are already receiving low pay. Call your representatives to Vote No on the House Budget Resolution—which would cut Medi-Cal.
