Our Development Model whether it is in the Himalayas or elsewhere in the country is not sustainable ... in Pune the rivers are being narrowed down for beautification! @PuneRivers@Jeevitnadi@ChaloPmc@parisarpune
Himachal is a disaster-zone right now! Massive destruction of infrastructure; at least 74 dead. Heavy rainfall & flash floods have led to high losses. And this isn’t the first time. Climate change & our ‘development’ model in the mountains will make matters worse.

@HillsPune@jayashreenandi not just antibiotics, lot of other chemicals from our cleaning products like soaps shampoos conditioners & then of course all the agricultural pollutants like weedicides, pesticides, insecticides, which are all part of irrigation waters thus we have toxic food in our plates daily
@jayashreenandi Same story every where in India - Pune rivers are sewage carrying nullahs too - and now with Pune River Rejuvenation project, they will concretise its banks, butcher 11000 trees and narrowing down the banks thus multiplying flood risks exponentially
@VetalTekdi yes just like the eye sores already being advertised on the "beautiful" river front near Kalyani nagar - both the river revival and tekdi roads are for the real estate industry and not for the city nor its citizens
Forest Dept recommends halting Pune riverfront project at the Ramnadi-Mula devrai. Rare wildlife, heritage trees & ancient temples flagged in report.
Push to declare it a Community Reserve underway.
