@RosenthalHealth Quaternary care centers often have a catchment area of hundreds of miles as a result and have a backlog of transfers (most of whom they have no capacity to accept). ED patients (deemed ‘stable’) are seemingly deprioritized as a result with the idea we can still ‘provide care’
@RosenthalHealth A wait of days is an incredibly frustrating experience, sorry about that. This is a multi-faceted problem that I think has less to do with profit motives (locally, at least) and more to do with staffing shortages and closures / paring down of ’offerings’ at outlying hospitals 1/2
I am a ED physician.
This is the Haiku app when I open up the Results in my In Basket - utter chaos.
There isn't even an ability to sort by 1) patient, 2) date ordered, 3) date resulted, etc.
Epic needs more MDs trained in clinical informatics.

Physicians at Stanford Medical Center are staging a protest on Friday to call out the university for prioritizing non-patient-facing health care workers to receive the vaccine before residents and fellows who work directly with COVID-19 patients. https://t.co/lVg9upu1wf
