Day 21 Updates for Luxiom 🚀
I was busy with another event this weekend, managed to spend time on Luxiom today.
Final polish before app store submission!!
[1] Proper Guest user support:
Added Guest user so people can try out app. It's intentionally lightweight for tryouts
[2] Spent way too long polishing the search micro interaction XD, but it was absolutely worth it. Tap icon to reveal a search bar underneath my layer card
[3] Added Firebase Remote Config
Lore: I had cloudflare worker for map, now switched completely to OpenfreeMap provider. I had a toggle in client, removed it and added a remote config just in case so I can divert traffic to my own implementation if things go south
[4] For Unsplash, added KV cache for rate limiting.
@MitcheIl I dont think so
In India we had a craze where youth created a new party and it was huuge in Insta and even came in local news, a bunch of my friends even followed it
It honestly depends on the niche. A viral SAAS video on X would be unheard of in my friend circles
@_sgarbini X is much more than the monthly revenue share
The connections you form and friends you make along the way are the real value
Seen a bunch of peeps getting job offers on X lol, Tiktok can never😂
not many people talk about this.
some men suffer so quietly that their absence becomes the first sign that something was wrong.
the one who jokes the most.
the one who says he's okay.
the one who keeps everyone else going.
the one who suddenly becomes distant.
the one who barely sleeps.
the one who stops talking about the future.
the one who says "i'm just tired" every single day.
sometimes they're carrying battles nobody sees.
this Men's Mental Health Month, a reminder that even the strongest shoulders can get tired. and "IT'S OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY"
@Tom_8496@Porkbun https://t.co/WRX9K40ctn
The strategy is first year will be cheap/discounted and later years they will increase by 1-2$ to offset losses
Ohh and also A LOT of addon services
Verisign is legit an enigma
- They run the .com and .net TLDs not by owning them, but via an ICANN contract that makes them the only operator allowed.
Godaddy, Porkbun, Spaceship, etc are middlemen. Most of your renewal fee flows straight through to Verisign.
- Verisign marked 28 years of 100 percent availability of the .com and .net resolution system.
ZERO downtime in 28 years for the lookup layer
- Their operating margin is 67%. ~$1.6B revenue. Near-zero marginal cost per domain.
Remove your free plan.
Free users are leeches. They increase support, server costs, and make you build features your paying customers don’t want.
Less than 3% of free users ever convert.
VC startups can afford free plans because they’re optimizing for growth, not profit.
If you’re an indie founder, never give away your product for free.
Tbf many Indie peeps give costly features for free and make pikachu face when people don't pay
In my app, I did the math and I got scared. I use Images 2.0 and Gpt + Deepgram, if I run a free trial I will be cooked☠️
So I'm planning for the next best thing - hard cap something like 0.05$(worst case) per user, just to give a taste of premium to user.
If you are studying stuff, Obsidian + Excalidraw Plugin + Core Web Preview Plugin + Claude Code/Codex terminal dock(STT) with Obsidian MCP is a crazy combination
@johnappscaler Clean Bucketlist + Vision board app
Added STT(Deepgram), AI studio for vision board images(Images 2.0) and AI idea cards
Still needs to get approval + also stuck in setting up LLP
I'm a noob in distribution, thinking of using TikTok and spamming videos
