@CMofKarnataka At this time, Tulu language should be made official. Tulu medium schools should be established so that Tulu children can also enjoy the bilingual policy in education (Tulu and English).
@CMofKarnataka@siddaramaiah Please do not push your personal agenda on citizens of Karnataka whose children will suffer the consequences of your prejudice. We have done well with the 3 language policy and all have benefited with increased mobility. You are not going be our CM for all time to come. CM avare if you are so concerned about us, please leave the decisions to the Parents of children in school whether they want a 2 or 3 language policy.
Give THEM a choice, do not decide for THEM. Let parents decide. If you are so concerned Why are you forcing your views on parents who are most concerned about their children. This is not democratic but totalitarianism
If you are so concerned have a rule that failure in the Third language will not hold back or Fail a student in class 10 and class 12. This is democratic not forcing your views on parents.
Please do consider this reform
Those upset by Tulu's official status are mostly Kannada-Telugu mixed ethnicities from eastern Karnataka.
They don't object when other language films dominate Bangalore, but they cry and howl over their own state's people.
I strongly oppose this hypocrisy.
Coming to Kannada land and shouting in Hindi, “Bolo Tulu Nadu ki Jai!” If they’re so proud of their own states, then why come to Bengaluru? Respect the land, language, and culture of the place you choose to live in.

The term of identity for Tulunad was an active political discussion even before 90+ years, seen when this bank was established in 1933.
It was a major source of the Tulu chalavali and part of Tuluva Mahasabha (Est 1928),one of India's oldest surviving language institutions.
Before Tulunadu was on modern maps, 16th-century Portuguese explorers officially documented it as "Tulinat" the " Tulu nation" 📜✨
It’s the 1st Dravidian land named by non-Indians, adapting the Tulu word "nad" (land) into the Latin-sounding "nat". History is wild! 🌊🇵🇹🇮🇳
TULU IS OFFICIAL. NOW WHERE IS THE ATR — AND WHERE IS THE LANGUAGE PLAN?
The Cabinet’s decision to grant Tulu additional official-language status for administrative purposes in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi marks a historic policy milestone.
But recognition is not the finish line.
It is the beginning of institution-building.
WHERE IS THE ATR?
At the September 10 RTI appeal hearing tracked by TGIK, officials indicated that the Gayatri Committee’s ATR would be handled after the Cabinet meeting.
The Cabinet has now taken its decision.
The ATR should therefore be pursued as a key part of the official documentary record — showing how the Government responded to the Committee’s recommendations and what further measures were contemplated.
WHERE IS THE TULU LANGUAGE-PLANNING FRAMEWORK?
A functioning administrative language requires more than recognition:
▫️ Status Planning — define where Tulu can be used in administration and public services.
▫️ Corpus Planning — terminology, glossaries, translation standards, digital resources and script policy.
▫️ Human Resources — officials, translators, interpreters and evaluators.
▫️ Examination Framework — clear rules on whether and how Tulu can be used in recruitment and departmental examinations.
▫️ Digital Administration — Tulu capacity across government websites, forms, portals and citizen services.
▫️ Administrative Coordination — a proposed Tulu Administrative Coordination Zone covering Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, with the two Deputy Commissioners as proposed joint co-chairs, alongside elected representatives, officials and language experts.
And beyond implementation:
🏛️ Tulu Development Board
🏛️ Dedicated Tulu & Culture Institutional Wing
These should be considered as the next institutional goals for Tulu's long-term development.
FROM RECOGNITION TO INSTITUTION-BUILDING
The campaign demand was once:
“Recognise Tulu.”
That chapter has now reached a major milestone.
The next demand is:
“Build the system.”
Recognition → Institutionalisation → Implementation → Development
TGIK is proud to have been one of the pressure groups contributing to this journey — particularly through RTI, documentation and sustained administrative accountability.
We were never the whole movement.
We were one part of a much larger collective effort by Tulu activists, organisations, public representatives, cultural workers and ordinary citizens.
Now the responsibility changes.
The Cabinet has taken the decision.
The ATR must show the administrative response.
The language plan must show how Tulu will function.
And the institutions must make that recognition durable.

Now that Tulu has been made official in Karnataka,
Tamil Nadu and Kerala are the only southern states where other minority languages are not recognised.
High time they stop doing politics of one-language supremacy & recognise other minority languages in the state.
Rather being hypocritical on language policy.

Look how cunningly Bengaluru media spreads "Tulu phobia." Linking separate demands to Tulu's recognition builds a narrative that will backfire on other languages like Kodava. Kolkata media never did this when WB recognized 12 official languages.
This is not how media works.
West Bengal has a ~90-95% Bengali population yet recognizes 12 languages. Doesn't this show that the average Bengali is constitutionally more mature than govt in Kerala, where "Bengali" is sometimes used as a derogatory term?

@agoliraje That 0.003% figure(literally non existent)in the neighbouring border taluk makes me wonder more than anything. The Beary people are spread all over Tulunadu. Their language actually uses 50% Tulu words and operates completely on Tulu phonetics and grammar!

28% non Malayalis is north Kasaragod + Thiyyas/Belchadas and Bearys (both groups more closer to Tulunadu) who are classified under Malayalam so if you redo the census with proper linguistic mapping then Malayali population would sink below 30%
