🚨 Jamie Carragher on Liverpool’s 2–3 defeat to Monaco:
🗣️ “The first half was really impressive. Liverpool looked aggressive, confident and dangerous, and there were plenty of positive signs in the way they attacked. But the second half was completely different.
“The structure became disjointed, the press disappeared, the intensity dropped and suddenly Monaco were able to play their way back into the game. You simply cannot throw away a 2–0 lead in two consecutive pre-season matches and pretend there’s nothing to worry about. For me, this screams squad depth. When the intensity drops and the structure falls apart, you start asking whether the manager has enough quality and reliable options beyond his strongest XI.
“But we have to give the players time, and more importantly, give Iraola what he needs. The owners have to look at this squad and ask themselves whether it is strong enough to take this great club where the supporters expect it to go. Pre-season results aren’t the end of the world, but the warning signs shouldn’t be ignored either.”

As for the rest of the #NewYearHonours, I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason why it's now Sir Nick 'Tuition Fees' Clegg & not Sir Kenny Dalglish, wondrous footballer & man who helped heal a whole city - right?
Because I'm really struggling to identify a single ****ing one.
