I remember asking assistant coach Mo Cheeks, what’s harder to do? Workout after practice or before?? I only asked cuz by time I would get to the gym, Russ was already done in the morning and I usually got mine in after practice. Mo like, “coming in before practice is probably harder”…since then, it’s been my routine….a lot of people looked at the emotions on the court and thought Russ was loud, nah to me, he was quiet and methodical. He lead by example and once the lights were bright, he let everything out and experienced pure freedom. It was inspiring as his teammate and everywhere I went, I seen it inspire people from all walks of life, crazy thing is, he didn’t say much, he just showed up. For 18 years. This basketball life is sacred to us as professionals, what we put into that court means everything. Some of us wish we could go back and do things with a little more intent and some can just wipe their hands and be satisfied with the time spent. Who u gonna be? We know what zero was on…keep inspiring in the next phase of life champ. I don’t care what happens, can’t erase what it was…The first YNs, finals run in our early 20s, all star games, seeing each other get injured and bounce back, the bus rides, plane rides, card games, jokes and arguments, the whole thing, memorable!! …to the whole Westbrook family, Nina, the kids, mama Westbrook, big Russ, Ray, Donnell, everybody from luezinger high and ucla and many more that I’m forgettin, much love and Congratulations on a iconic career.
Possible corruption and cheating aside, hilarious that the Trump administration were allegedly pushing hard to reinstate a player who is a literal birthright citizen. His pregnant mother gave birth to him on a visit because the airline wouldn’t let her board her return flight.
Granit Xhaka explains his move to Sunderland: "It's possible [that some at Bayer reacted with irritation since the original plan was to settle down in Germany], I don't know. Anyone could have predicted that Xabi Alonso would leave the club one day. The various departures from Leverkusen make sense from the perspective of the club and the players. At some point, I received several offers. That's when I sensed that those in charge suddenly realized that it could get serious.
[Sunderland] did everything, absolutely everything, to bring me back to England. When a club makes you feel that way, it would be almost rude not to consider it. I was so touched by the people in charge. I couldn't say no.
Everything happened very quickly. The first contact was made one day before departure for the Bayer camp in Rio de Janeiro. At 11 pm, a Swiss number lit up on my phone. I was on my way to bed, the children were already asleep: "Hello, this is Kyril. I'm the owner of Sunderland." I played along because I thought someone was playing a prank on me. My advisor José Noguera was in America at the time, with the corresponding time difference. I gave Kyril my agent's number. The conversation was clear but brief. Ten minutes later, José called via Facetime, together with the sporting director and Kyril. Then I realized: this is serious.
I was honest with Kyril and told him that I couldn't really imagine an immediate return to the Premier League. But after the phone call, I felt: You have to do this, Granit! The club is coming from a situation that reminded me of my parents' beginnings – from scratch. And I feel that this experience here will benefit me most for my future. Why? I want to pursue a career as a coach at some point. That's why it's important to experience moments of suffering and solidarity. We're going to have to suffer a lot in the coming months. That's another side of football, but it's also part of it, and it will shape me.

Geno Smith has never won on a Thursday before. He's 0-7 in his career with a 74.3 passer rating.
So let me be the first to congratulate him on his first Thursday victory when Seattle comes into Chicago to beat the Bears. Way to go, Geno.
