Next month I become the only nurse in our practice. It’s small, and only ever been a one nurse practice. I have been lucky to have a 12 month ‘handover’ with the amazing nurse that’s been there for 15 years who’s retiring.
Any tips for a solo nurse? @Gpnsnn#GPN#practicenurse
@luwilliams2209@theRCN Because we’re not employed on an agenda for change contract or (most of the time) by the NHS. To be honest, I’m lucky that my contract states I am on agenda for change terms and conditions but a lot of practice nurses aren’t and in some places, conditions and pay are awful!
Disappointing that as a full paying @theRCN member, I don’t get a vote in the ballot because I’m a #practicenurse#gpn
I can’t help but think a large part of the profession won’t have their voice heard when we’re in the same position as NHS employees 👎🏼

On our way to France 🇫🇷 Fave thing is choosing an audiobook for the car journey. We’ve had some corkers, @RomeshRanga has hands down been the best. Now, @robbeckettcomic, your up! The vote is out…
A new docuseries about Britain's 40-year battle with HIV will premiere tomorrow on #WorldAIDSDay
Positive includes testimonies from some of the earliest HIV patients and real-life heroes.
It premieres on Sky Documentaries and @NOW at 9pm on Wednesday 1 December @skytv
Lockdowns finally lifted long enough for us to go away and watch @robbeckettcomic after 3 attempts… then covid hits the house instead 😭 Are dvd releases still a thing?

We test urine samples on our paediatric patients every day.
It's easy to take for granted that we know how to interpret urine dipstick results.
But when it comes down to it, do we REALLY know what all the elements mean?
Here are 9 steps to help you master the urine dip.

Today I started my dream job as a Practice Nurse 🥳 I never thought I’d be here 2 years after qualifying but here I am, in an amazing practice too. Couldn’t have done it without the amazing people who I’ve worked with along the way 💙 #practicenurse
@CopleyDee One reason I love primary care! A much more positive environment than secondary care from my experience. Everyone cheers each other on and it’s such a nice place to be 💜
@Bourne2Nurse Thank you. Unfortunately, writing everything down (and reading my notes from my trainee post) is made a bit more tricky as we’re moving to a brand new surgery in 2 weeks. Not quite wanting to unpack but wanted to get settled is proving tricky! My brain is working overtime 🙃
@BeckyWych Thank you ☺️ I have just spent the last 9 months as a PN trainee after working on a surgical/covid ward for 15 months as a NQN. QNI is a place I often visit online, so helpful. I’ve honestly never been happier, best decision I’ve ever made! Primary care is definitely underrated.
Just saying: if National Insurance is rising from 12% to 13.25% it is NOT rising by 1.25%. It is rising by 1.25 percentage points. In percentage terms, it is rising by just over 10%. It is a 10% tax hike.
