there’s a classically trained opera baritone currently working at a Chrysler dealership in Cocoa, Florida and he makes advertisements for the cars in the style of different arias and I just had to share that with everybody because he’s my favorite person in the world rn
This is personal for me. I was born in Romania, a country where the Securitate, the communist secret police, infiltrated nearly every aspect of life through torture and intimidation. If a regime like that had access to something like Claude, the revolution that brought us democracy might never have happened.
I'm also proud that Anthropic actively supports the US Army and NATO allied countries. Without that alliance, the Russian army might not have stopped at Ukraine.
For those wondering how mass domestic surveillance could be consistent with "all lawful use" of AI models, I recommend a declassified report from the ODNI on just how much can be done with commercially available data (CAI): "...to identify ever person who attended a protest"
long time no tweet...
this TL has RT'd/posted much criticism of AI.
but last year I was humbled to join Anthropic to work on safe, responsible, Really Useful AI.
and this is why. proud to work for leaders with principles & guts. alongside coworkers who couldn't agree more.
Two bonus aspects to doing this on a smartphone:
1) Realizing the phone, in its shape / color / sinister power to suck you out of your world, is like a miniature monolith
2) During darker-lit moments, you can see your own eyes reflected in the screen glass, blinking Bowman-style
Totally sober geek way to show a little 4/20 spirit:
Watch the last 23 minutes of 2001: A Space Odyssey, set to Pink Floyd’s Echoes. The audio eerily matches the visuals. https://t.co/Vfae3ePfwt
The DNC chair should probably be someone who has a record of electoral success and who is embraced by the BASE of the party.
THE BASE. THE BASE. THE BASE.
I think we all know that the next four years will be hard. Donald Trump is already announcing his radical, extremist picks for the cabinet, and we’ll need to wake up every day ready to defend our country, our state and our communities. But we can win, and I believe we will.
None of this would be possible without you, our members and volunteers. Every dollar you gave, every person you talked to, every time you showed up helped Democrats hold ground in Michigan in a historically difficult year – and I want you all to hold your heads high.
In a historic win, we re-elected @khbforjustice to the Michigan Supreme Court AND EXPANDED a pro-justice, pro-equality majority by electing @ktforjustice to join her. This majority will do incredible work to protect our freedom and defend the rule of law in Michigan.
That’s not just numbers — it’s critical races that we won. The results are worth celebrating. Of course, the biggest result was electing @ElissaSlotkin to the US Senate, where she will be a critical champion for Michigan families in Congress.
Nationwide in 2024, the presidential vote count shifted right almost 6%. In Michigan, we shifted right just 1.4% at the top of the ticket. That’s because even in the face of strong headwinds nationally, the hard work we’ve put in together allowed us to build trust with voters.
I'm not trying to sugarcoat a difficult election. I am heartbroken that @KamalaHarris and @Tim_Walz won't be in the White House. But as the final ballots are tallied across Michigan, it’s clearer and clearer that the work you did mattered 🧵
