Well, the location of Modern Languages conference @MLACdurham was a feast. Some incredibly impressive upcoming scholars renewing the disciplinary field brilliantly; a range of excellent plenaries and panels. Much fun at the Heroines session, and glad the dolls went down so well!

Spending my Sunday rescuing the dolls from semi-retirement & dusting them off ready for my first post-covid upcycling workshop at Durham. Thanks to Marie-Claire Barnet for the invitation, inspired by my 2019 session @TacticsPraxis in Cambridge. Excited to see how this plays out!

We’re back! A colleague at Durham invited me to go along and run an upcycling workshop as part of a session on ‘Heroines’ at a conference next week. Excited to break out the dollies again from semi-retirement and head out on a road trip!
Discussion will move into an ‘upcycling’ workshop intended to lead participants to reflect on the nature of the commercialisation and commodification of the body across history through the medium of dolls. We will explore issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the toybox…
